Job Description
Job Title: MRI Technologist
Profession: MRI Tech

Shift: Full Time - 3x12s
Hours per Shift: 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM scheduled as needed between Monday - Friday


Experience:
Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in diagnostic radiology, with MRI experience preferred.
Completion of an AMA approved 2-year Radiologic Technology program.


License:
NYS License required.


Certifications:
Certification as a radiologic, nuclear medicine, or ultrasound technologist required.
Formal MRI-specific training preferred.
BLS certification (through AHA or RQI) required.


Must-Have:
NYS License and certification as a radiologic, nuclear medicine, or ultrasound technologist.
Previous experience in diagnostic radiology.


Description:
The MRI Technologist performs technical MRI assignments.
They exercise complex skill, judgment, and knowledge of the principles and methods of Magnetic Resonance Imaging.
They perform diagnostic MRI studies as requested.
Infection control procedures are followed according to Universal Precautions.
The technologist is capable of providing care to patients of all age groups, including infants, pediatrics, adults, and geriatrics.
They operate MRI equipment, coils, and related tools with accuracy.
Image quality is evaluated, and MRI positioning and coil selection are demonstrated based on procedure guidelines.
Competency in Radiology Information System (RIS) is demonstrated by entering and editing patient demographics and charges.
Competency with Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) is utilized for image processing, image review, proper protocol selection, and troubleshooting.
Proper magnet safety procedures are adhered to for self, patients, and other personnel by using appropriate screening techniques.
All techniques in administering MRI and contrast media are followed as prescribed.
Emergency situations related to reactions to contrast media are recognized, and appropriate actions are taken.
