Quality Engineer

Overview Build Quality. Drive Continuous Improvement. Our client is seeking a Quality Engineer to join their manufacturing team in Grand Rapids, Michigan . In this role, you'll work cross-functionally with production, quality, and engineering teams to strengthen quality systems, solve complex manufacturing challenges, and support continuous improvement initiatives across the operation. Responsibilities Support the implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the Quality Management System (QMS). Partner with production and quality leadership to resolve manufacturing quality issues and prevent future occurrences. Perform root cause analysis and implement effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPA). Support Quality Inspectors and Quality Specialists to ensure products and processes meet internal and customer quality requirements. Lead and participate in continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing principles, including 5S, Kaizen, and waste reduction activities. Develop and deliver quality-related training to increase quality awareness throughout the organization. Plan, conduct, and document internal quality audits, including follow-up on corrective actions and audit findings. Create, maintain, and update quality documentation, including: Process Flow Documentation PFMEA (Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) Control Plans Quality Work Instructions Quality Manuals Assist with PPAP documentation and production quality planning activities. Support receiving and outgoing quality processes to ensure product conformity. Prepare quality metrics, reports, and documentation for leadership review. Utilize statistical analysis tools to evaluate process performance and identify improvement opportunities. Collaborate across departments to improve manufacturing efficiency, product quality, and customer satisfaction. Qualifications Approximately 1+ year of Quality Engineering experience in a manufacturing environment Knowledge of quality engineering tools and methodologies, including: PFMEA Control Plans PPAP Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) Experience with Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret technical data and manufacturing processes.
