The Pathology department provides clinical and anatomical pathology services 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Serves as a reference laboratory for routine and complex tests. Staff are specially trained in pediatric blood collection, age-specific techniques, and coping strategies to improve the patient and family experience.

Position Summary Accountable for daily histology technician duties, including preparation and processing of tissues. The work includes limited specimen gross, accessioning of all tissue types, histological processing, sectioning and staining. Other histology duties include but are not limited to, maintenance of laboratory equipment and supplies, participation in evaluation of new techniques and methodology, revision and updating of techniques as needed.

Qualifications:

Certified as a Histotechnician (HT) by American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or equivalent professional organization. New HT graduates have the first twelve months of employment to obtain their HT certification. Must meet continuing education requirements to maintain certification if applicable. Experience: * Previous experience in a health care setting. * Previous experience as a histotechnician preferred. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: * Requires an associate's degree or equivalent. * Computer skills specific to laboratory information systems. * Detail oriented. * Must be highly organized, efficient, and multifunctional. Must have good communications skills. * Ability to work independently as well as in a team. Annual salaries displayed are based on full-time employment (40 standard hrs per week). Annual salaries for part-time positions will be prorated based on the employee's scheduled weekly hours in relation to the full-time standard. When determining individual pay rates, we carefully consider a wide range of factors including but not limited to market indicators for the specific role, the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate, internal equity and organizational needs.
