Job Description The Senior Specialist of Automation serves as the BAS/HVAC technical authority for West Point, GWES Southeast Pennsylvania. The senior specialist is responsible for automation system performance, compliance, reliability, energy optimization, and lifecycle management. The position provides technical leadership to specialists and technicians while leading capital projects, managing change controls, supporting audits, and maintaining BAS systems in a state of GMP compliance. Key Responsibilities Lead cross-functional collaboration between GWES, Utilities, Maintenance, Quality, our Research & Development division, our Manufacturing division, and IT Provide technical direction to EUTS Specialists and technicians Lead investigations and resolution of systemic BAS/HVAC issues Manage automation and facility system upgrade projects from scope development through commissioning and qualification Serve as project manager and capital team leader for facility system projects Perform BAS programming, code changes, troubleshooting, and optimization Develop and maintain BAS/HVAC Master Plans and obsolescence strategies Lead root cause investigations and implement long-term corrective actions Define system requirements, specifications, sequences of operation, and data integrity requirements Support lifecycle cost analysis, performance monitoring, and energy efficiency initiatives Provide technical oversight for new construction and renovation projects Maintain BAS systems in a validated and inspection-ready state Manage change controls, including SDLC documentation and approval workflows Act as BAS/HVAC subject matter expert during audits and inspections Ensure system documentation, SOPs, training curricula, and compliance records remain current Support GMP and GLP business areas while maintaining regulatory compliance Candidate Expectations Advanced BAS/HVAC engineering expertise Automation programming and troubleshooting skills GxP compliance and validation knowledge Change management and SDLC experience Capital project management Root cause analysis and reliability engineering Cross-functional leadership and stakeholder management Energy management and operational optimization Functions as a recognized technical expert Leads projects and initiatives with significant business impact Provides technical guidance to others Owns strategy and lifecycle management for critical systems Operates with a high degree of independence Represents the organization during regulatory inspections Key Focus Areas Regulatory compliance Quality interactions Capital project leadership Strategic planning Technical mentorship Automation system ownership and administration Education BS in electrical or mechanical Engineering Requirements Minimum 5 years' experience in BAS/HVAC design, operation, maintenance Minimum of 3 year of experience in working with facilities systems Three years of experience and proficiency working with Siemens BAS systems Experience in performing engineering calculations Experience in ASME, ASHRAE and building codes Preferred Experience Three years of experience with union labor Siemens Insight and Desigo experience PE and/or PMP certifications/license Three years of experience in performing HVAC calculations Required Skills Adaptability Automation Capital Project Management Change Management Corrective Action Management Cost Analysis Data Analysis Data Integrity Deviation Management Engineering Calculations Equipment Qualification Facility Management GMP Compliance Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) Life Cycle Cost Analysis Maintenance Supervision New Construction Occupational Safety and Health Regulatory Audits Regulatory Compliance Regulatory Inspections Scope Development Sterile Manufacturing Team Leadership Benefits The salary range for this role is $117,000.00 - $184,200.00 The successful candidate will be eligible for annual bonus and long-term incentive, if applicable Available benefits include medical, dental, vision healthcare and other insurance benefits (for employee and family), retirement benefits, including 401(k), paid holidays, vacation, and compassionate and sick days More information about benefits is available at Job Details #J-18808-Ljbffr MSD Malaysia
