Position Location This position will be located onsite in Palmer, Alaska. Job Overview Responsible for performing alarm and patrol duties in assigned areas to protect life and property against theft, misappropriation, vandalism, fire, flood, or similar disaster. Provide vehicle transportation support function under direction of supervisor in compliance with government, corporate, and management directives. Pay: $20.74/hour plus an additional $5.09/hour (up to maximum of 40 hours per week) used to offset the cost of elected benefits Hours: M-F, 5:00am- 1:30pm Retirement Plan: Eligible to participate in company 401(k) with Company matching after 1 year Vacation: Minimum of ten days per year. Actual days are based upon your Service Date Sick Time: Accrued sick time at 1 hour per 30 hours worked, capped at 56 hours per year Holidays: 12 paid holidays per year. Responsibilities Essential Job Duties: Transport students to work-based learning sites, college, airport, and other activities. Must be able to work all shifts. Ensure the physical security of buildings and property by checking doors, windows, lights, electrical appliances, equipment, locks, and emergency equipment. Maintain log of findings and corrective action taken. Monitor and direct urinalyses and Breathalyzer as required. Assist in transporting ill or injured students as required. Respond to fire alarms, take necessary steps to report fires, assist in suppressing fires, and reset fire alarm equipment. Operate passenger vehicles; transport passengers and/or packages. Ensure adherence to established schedules. Ensure proper student/visitor checkout and procedures are followed. Job Requirements Mandatory: High school diploma or general education degree (GED). One (1) year experience with an organized security department, law enforcement agency, or experience with security duties. Successfully pass background check and drug test required on the contract. Current, valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record. Preferred: Previous experience in law enforcement. Training with an organized security department. Working Conditions: Work is typically performed in an office setting and at various locations on Center. Employee must regularly walk, climb stairs and visually observe Center environment. Employee must be able to run and respond to physical altercations or other emergencies rapidly for the safety of students, Center staff and property. Employee must be able to safely operate a passenger vehicle and supervise students simultaneously. Physical Requirements: This position requires the employee to be able to frequently required to sit, stand, walk and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. Work somewhat close to other people, such as when sharing office space. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
