Respiratory Therapist – Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics

Charlottesville, VA | Acute Care (Children's Hospital)

Schedule / Job Type

Contract (13 or 26 weeks) | Nights | 3x12-Hour Shifts (19:00–07:00) | Expected 36 or 48 hours/week | Every other weekend, every other holiday; must work 2 of 3 winter holidays | Unit operates a self-scheduling model; every effort will be made to accommodate scheduling preferences

Key Responsibilities

• Provide respiratory therapy services within a children's hospital setting, including NICU and PICU populations
• Deliver age-appropriate respiratory care to neonatal and pediatric patients requiring advanced support
• Participate in self-scheduling within unit guidelines while meeting required weekend and holiday coverage obligations
• Float within scope of practice to other units as needed per facility policy
• Complete specialty-specific orientation modules as required during onboarding

Required Qualifications

• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification required
• BLS certification required
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification required
• Active Virginia Respiratory Therapist license required; pending licenses accepted provided a temporary license can be obtained before the Wednesday prior to start date — candidate must hold an active license in another state to be eligible for a temporary Virginia license
• Minimum Level 4 NICU experience required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Maximum of 40 hours of requested time off per 13-week contract; all RTO must be disclosed at time of submission
• Any pre-start time off between sign date and start date must be disclosed upfront so an appropriate start date can be arranged
• Nursys verification required at submission
• References required

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Cardiac PICU experience preferred
• Adult Critical Care Specialist (ACCS) certification preferred
