This resource is responsible for gathering and documenting clear, unambiguous, and testable business requirements from the client, and understanding the business requirements thoroughly to communicate business need and system functionality to technical and non-technical stakeholders, project team members, and the user community. This resource is also responsible for working with the project team and stakeholders to examine existing and future-state business processes, data, and systems. This information is used to guide the gathering of business requirements as they relate to the desired system functionality.

Job duties include documenting business requirements that are clear, unambiguous, testable, and satisfy the business need in accordance with standard templates and adherence to DTMB and MDOT policies, standards, and guidelines. Facilitate requirement gathering meetings to identify impacted business processes and document the project business requirements. Adhere to the project schedule by developing and maintaining the project backlog during Agile projects and working with the product owner to set priority throughout the duration of project. Understand project scope and actively monitor requirements process to maintain adherence to the objectives set for the project. Understand high-level information governance objectives and ensure appropriate stakeholder inclusion and/or awareness regarding data requirements. Assist with the appropriate resolution of critical IT issues as it pertains to the BA role. Assist with gathering the information and analysis for Build vs. Buy project decisions. Understand project specific benefits and related impact of changes to project scope or business requirements. Ensure SEM deliverables for the project that are a responsibility of the BA are completed, reviewed, and approved in alignment with area processes. Work directly with project team including user interface/user experience (UI/UX) designers, tech leads, solution architects, database administrators, developers, QA testers, and technical writers to ensure understanding of the requirements, functionality, size, and scalability of the IT solution. Will be assigned to multiple development projects, working closely with business users and collaborating with cross-functional teams, including team leads, stakeholders, developers, and management. Translate business requirements into actionable tasks, deliverables, and expectations. Collaborate closely with Business Analysts, UI/UX teams, and the broader project team to ensure alignment and successful execution.

Requirements include 5+ years: Experience as a Business Analyst Experience working with both Agile and Waterfall methodologies Experience gathering and documenting requirements, including Epics, Features, and User Stories Experience documenting current (As-Is) and future-state (To-Be) business process flows Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or a related field required Desired Skills Previous State of Michigan experience Minimum Education Bachelor's Degree Location Candidates must be local to the Lansing, Michigan area (within 90 miles) at time of submission. This requirement is non-negotiable. Position is a hybrid schedule (Non-Negotiable) : There is no remote-only option. Required onsite days- Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Remote eligible days- Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays. The resource must meet these requirements from the beginning. Working hours Monday-Friday, approximately 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Additional Requirements Must be authorized to work in the United States; We are unable to offer sponsorships at this time Must undergo a background check and drug screening for employment. Employment Terms This is a W2 position 40 hrs per week HYBRID schedule - (Non-Negotiable) : There is no remote-only option. Required onsite days- Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
