Job Details Employment Type: Travel RN Specialty: Cardiac Stepdown / Thoracic Surgery / IMC Shift: 12-hour nights Hours per Week: 36 Contract Length: 13 weeks Start Date: 10/12/2026 End Date: 1/11/2027 Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,130 - $2,250 Schedule: Monday through Friday with every other weekend and some holidays required Float Requirement: Yes, floating as needed Charting System: Epic Setting: Adult inpatient cardiac/thoracic stepdown and progressive care Additional Requirement: Telemetry testing required prior to start Job Requirements 2 years of acute care inpatient RN experience within the last 3 years in the specialty Active Wisconsin RN license or compact RN license Current BLS and ACLS certifications through AHA Experience with telemetry, cardiac monitoring, and progressive care / stepdown patients Experience with ventilator support and transplant patients preferred Experience in ICU or IMC with surgical post-op patients required Ability to work with general care and IMC patient populations when floating Strong knowledge of Epic documentation Successful completion of a telemetry exam before start Responsibilities Provide safe, compassionate care for cardiac surgery stepdown and thoracic surgery patients Monitor telemetry rhythms and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition Care for patients recovering from procedures such as lobectomies, esophagectomies, decortications, and other thoracic surgeries Assist with procedures such as chest tube insertion in the unit procedure room Manage complex patient needs including cardiac monitoring, oxygen therapy, IV therapy, and post-op care Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams to support excellent patient outcomes Float to other units as needed while maintaining high standards of care Use evidence-based nursing practices and contribute to a supportive team culture Apply now to join this exciting cardiac stepdown travel nursing opportunity in Madison, Wisconsin.
