Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Postpartum RN for a Mother-Baby/Couplet Care unit at a Magnet-designated teaching hospital, requiring 2+ years of experience and prior travel experience.

Details

• Work in the Mother-Baby / Couplet Care / Post Partum unit
• Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 19:00-7:30)
• Patient ratio of 1:3
• Weekend shifts required unless otherwise noted on schedule
• Floating within the hospital required, but not to sister hospitals
• No on-call requirements
• Uses Epic charting system

Requirements

• Active WA or compact RN license required
• Current BLS and NRP certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of recent Postpartum/Mother-Baby nursing experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Epic charting experience preferred
• Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
• Skilled in newborn care including assessments, vital signs, glucose screening, baths, complex feeds, phototherapy, and medication administration
• Skilled with magnesium, insulin, PCA/PCEA, and heparin infusions
• Experience with postpartum care including cesarean section, multiple births, postpartum hemorrhage, pregnancy-induced hypertension, and vaginal delivery
• Experience with couplet care, breastfeeding instruction, and fundus/lochia/perineum care

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive care to postpartum mothers and newborns in a couplet care model
• Level 1 Nursery setting within a Magnet-designated teaching hospital
• Complete facility-required training modules prior to start, including additional OBIX modules if applicable
• COVID-19 vaccination and booster required with no exceptions
• Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate
• No radius restriction for local candidate eligibility
• RTO should be kept to a minimum and cannot be requested during the first two weeks of the assignment
• Prior UW Medical Center staff must have an 18-month separation before returning as a traveler
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
