Job Title: Certified Medical Assistant


Job Description:

VHS is seeking a dedicated Certified Medical Assistant to join our team at Naval Hospital Jacksonville. This is a year-long contract position within the Family Medicine Clinic, requiring full-time commitment on a schedule of 0730 to 1600, Monday through Friday. All candidates must have recent outpatient family practice or primary care experience, and meet the required certifications and educational background.


Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare examination rooms prior to patient arrival
• Assist with patient check-ins, admissions, discharges, and transfers
• Check and document vital signs including temperature, respiration, pulse, weight, blood pressure, and pulse oximeter reading
• Obtain and document patient history, including medical, drug, allergies, and chief complaints
• Perform diagnostic procedures as ordered
• Maintain examination room supplies and perform routine maintenance
• Complete lab and x-ray requisitions per clinic policies
• Enter demographic data, diagnosis, and discharge information into the computer system

Qualifications:

• Graduate from an accredited medical assistant training program (CAAHEP or ABHES) or formal military medical services training
• Current certification as a Medical Assistant by the American Association of Medical Assistants or registration with the American Medical Technologists or the American Registry of Medical Assistants
• Minimum of one year full-time CMA experience within the last three years in outpatient/family practice settings
• Current BLS certification
• Provide two reference letters attesting to professional skills and patient rapport

Hourly Pay Rate: $20.11
