Sr. Manager, Procurement R&D Category

Position Summary Senior Manager, Procurement R&D Category (DePuy Synthes, part of Johnson & Johnson). This leadership role oversees procurement activities across spend categories, driving alignment between business and category strategies for a new Consumer Health Company. Key Responsibilities Lead development of category strategies to create a world‑class organization and supply base. Align category strategies with company strategy and goals. Deliver financial, performance, and innovation targets. Steward financial policy and responsible supplier and procurement standards. Leverage fit‑for‑purpose procurement process solutions, including digital solutions, outsourcing, and internal resources. Engage with executive leadership in key supplier relationships. Cultivate a culture of inclusion, learning, and engagement. Benchmark industry best practices and advance procurement capabilities. Lead major strategic negotiations for owned categories on behalf of the business. Promote digital tools and automation opportunities. Use procurement systems and analytics to generate insights and drive continuous improvement in supplier and sourcing performance. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or other advanced degree strongly preferred. Minimum of 8 years of procurement or related experience. Comprehensive knowledge of the R&D industry. Experience in procurement, category management, and developing multi‑year sourcing roadmaps. Strong commercial acumen and understanding of cost drivers, market dynamics, and risk trade‑offs. Proficiency in Excel with advanced analytics skills. Familiarity with digital and AI procurement tools. Strong presentation and executive communication skills. Experience leading complex, cross‑functional sourcing initiatives. Leadership, communication, influencing, and collaboration skills at senior executive and peer levels. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated learning agility. Travel up to 10% domestic or international may be required. Preferred Requirements Experience in related industry. Experience standing up a team and leading through organizational transformation. Benefits Salary range: $122,000.00 – $212,750.00. Eligible for the Company’s consolidated retirement plan (pension) and savings plan (401(k)). Eligible for long‑term incentive program. Vacation: 120 hours per calendar year. Sick time: 40 hours per calendar year (48 hours if residing in Colorado, 56 hours if residing in Washington). Holiday pay, including floating holidays: 13 days per calendar year. Work, Personal and Family Time – up to 40 hours per calendar year. Parental Leave: 480 hours within one year of birth/adoption/foster care. Bereavement Leave: 240 hours for immediate family; 40 hours for extended family. Caregiver Leave: 80 hours in a 52‑week rolling period. Volunteer Leave: 32 hours per calendar year.
