Safety Coordinator - 1st Shift

The incumbent will lead and direct the safety function of the assigned building(s) and provide recommendations regarding safety initiatives and programs. They will also ensure compliance with all safety, health and environmental regulations, supporting the strategic business plan of the company. Job Duties Duties may include, but are not limited to the following: Work with local management to provide information regarding plant safety status, initiatives, identification of safety needs, and effective program/process follow-through. Coordinate and provide safety training according to Federal, State, and Company standards. Maintain required safety and health documents. Conduct periodic safety and health walk-through inspections. Analyze current safety programs to determine applicability through metrics and suggest improvements if necessary. Conduct Safety Audits Advising provisions to minimize safety risks. Create AIL with follow-through of assignments as directed by manager. Conduct Safety Team meetings. Intervene in unsafe activities or operations. Ensure the development, implementation, and updating of required written safety and health programs and plans. Required Competencies & Knowledge Knowledge of Federal and State OSHA, and various state regulations. Environmental experience is helpful. Skills And Abilities Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written. Leadership. Intermediate computer skills, particularly in the MS Office Suite. Successfully multi-task, organize, and prioritize. Ensure collaborative relationships with industry, trade, other associations, regulatory agencies, and Hearthside staff. Work Environment Work is primarily done in a production floor setting. Frequent production environment exposure, including noise, dust, moving machinery, forklifts, and temperature fluctuations. Physical Requirements Work at a workstation for extended periods. Stand, walk, and climb stairs frequently. Lift 30 pounds frequently. Minimum Qualifications Associate's degree in Safety or Human Resources preferred, or 1-3 years of combined education and practical experience. Knowledge of both State and Federal safety, health, and environmental regulations in a similar environment. Demonstrated leadership skills and abilities.
