Step into an important role supporting students as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) on a contract assignment covering a maternity leave. This assignment begins August 17 (or as soon as possible) and continues through September 28, spanning 3-4 days a week (21-28 hours weekly) at an elementary setting near Palatine, IL. In this position, you’ll provide direct occupational therapy services to students in accordance with their IEP goals, focusing on facilitating functional skills and supporting participation, especially within self-contained autism programs. You’ll also collaborate daily with special education staff and classroom teams to make a meaningful difference in students’ access to education.
Desired Qualifications:
- Completion of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program
- Illinois Occupational Therapist license and COTA certification (or eligibility to obtain)
- Experience working in pediatric or school-based settings is preferred
- Strong teamwork skills, with a collaborative mindset to partner with educators and specialists
- Ability to adapt interventions to meet diverse student needs
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver occupational therapy interventions aligned with individual IEPs
- Document student progress and maintain accurate records
- Participate in IEP meetings as required
- Collaborate with teachers, paraprofessionals, and families to support student success
- Support student engagement in classroom routines and activities
