Paraprofessional Educator/Special Education - Group 2 (3211) Job Title: Paraprofessional Educator/Special Education - Group 2 Location: Lilja Elementary School, Natick, Massachusetts Reports To: Special Education Administrator/Principal Work Days/FTE: 182 days / 1.0 FTE Salary/Benefits: Salary and benefits per contract with the Education Association of Natick Benefits Eligible: Yes Job Goal: Provide specialized instruction and support to students in special education settings, assisting teachers with instructional delivery, behavior support, and classroom management. Qualifications Education: High School diploma or GED Professional Certification: None specified Specialized Knowledge: Thorough understanding and commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justice principles as they relate to student, staff, and community engagement Preferred Experience: Experience with Google Suite (Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Classroom, etc.) and PowerSchool preferred; training will be provided if needed Skills: Demonstrated aptitude for required work Bilingual skills, especially in Spanish and Portuguese, are highly desirable Passion for working with students, families, and colleagues Flexibility and collaboration Ability to multitask in a fast‑paced, supportive environment that nurtures student growth Organization and ability to meet time‑sensitive deadlines Alternative degrees/experience may be substituted for the above at the discretion of the Superintendent if such a substitution brings a strong candidate forward. Tools and Equipment Used Phone, intercom, personal computer and specified software applications; scanner, copy machine, calculator, camera, printers, and fax machine Essential Functions of the Job (not limited to) Work with students individually and in small groups Assist the teacher in responding to the special needs of individual students Accompany students for transitions, including lifting where appropriate Assist in the administration of alternative testing, including classroom, district, and state assessments Correct day‑to‑day work of students; not responsible for grading or reporting to parents Carry out teacher‑planned learning exercises, including instruction of core curriculum, academic support, and related therapies (speech, language, occupational, physical, mobility training) Perform classroom and other appropriate tasks as directed by the supervising teacher or principal Maintain ethical behavior and confidentiality of student information as expected of fully certified teachers Participate in staff development programs and special needs or supportive services teams as needed Establish effective work relationships with classroom teachers, specialists, and administration Consult with special education staff and participate in team collaboration Assist PK through 22‑year‑old students with transfer and mobilization activities and/or nonmedical hygiene assistance Provide specialized instruction in a 1:1 or specialized program environment Engage in and maintain district‑provided safety care training and implement safety plans (evacuation drills, behavior support plans) Collect and record accurate data on student academics, behaviors, and progress Support students in developing communication, social, and academic skills; collaborate with teachers and staff to maintain consistent behavior supports Perform other duties as assigned by building principal, supervising teacher, Special Education Coordinator, or Director for Student Services Work with district and school leadership to combat systemic barriers limiting equitable access to opportunity Identify and address bias and its impact on rigor and opportunity for students and staff; update policies and equitable access procedures Work Environment and Physical Requirements Move about classroom, school grounds, office, and off‑site locations, including quick movement across uneven surfaces Remain stationary for periods of time Operate computer and other school/office productivity machinery Read material from computer monitor and printed matter Position oneself to access files and materials Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff in person, via video conference, telephone, and writing Observe details at close range; ensure student safety in school setting Multitask and meet multiple demands from several people Teach and support students with life‑skills development (eating, cleaning, toileting) Lifting up to and including 25 lbs Work in a moderate to loud noise environment Supervisory Responsibilities None listed.
