Veterinary Extern - General Practice

Job Description Open to currently enrolled veterinary students, an externship experience at an NVA hospital will give students the unique opportunity to understand the day-to-day operations of the practice, and to gain valuable hands‑on clinical experience. Responsibilities Work closely with supervising Associate Veterinarians to gather patient histories. Perform physical exams. Create treatment plans. Conduct diagnostics and dentistry services. Observe/assist or perform surgical procedures. Manage patient medical care. Practice communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients. Schedule & Compensation Externship experiences at Northside Animal Hospital range from two to eight weeks depending on student and hospital schedules. Housing may be available for externs in some instances. Veterinary students in the clinical portion of their education are eligible for a travel/living expense stipend. Eligibility All veterinary students (regardless of class year) are encouraged to participate in NVA externships.
