HR & Payroll Specialist (Direct Hire)
LHH is partnering with a mission-driven nonprofit organization in Central San Diego to hire an HR & Payroll Specialist for a direct-hire opportunity. This role is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, hands-on, and comfortable managing payroll while supporting day-to-day HR operations. You'll play a key role in ensuring accurate payroll processing, maintaining compliant HR records, and supporting a wide range of employee-related functions in a collaborative and purpose-driven environment.

LHH is partnering with a mission-driven nonprofit organization in Central San Diego to hire an HR & Payroll Specialist for a direct-hire opportunity. This role is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, hands-on, and comfortable managing payroll while supporting day-to-day HR operations. You'll play a key role in ensuring accurate payroll processing, maintaining compliant HR records, and supporting a wide range of employee-related functions in a collaborative and purpose-driven environment.
Responsibilities:
- Process full-cycle payroll, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with California wage and hour laws
- Maintain and audit payroll records, deductions, and reporting
- Support HR administrative functions including scanning, filing, and converting physical files into electronic records
- Maintain organized and compliant employee files and documentation
- Serve as a point of contact for employee questions related to payroll, benefits, and HR policies
- Assist with benefits administration and employee updates
- Support onboarding and offboarding processes, including documentation and recordkeeping
- Ensure confidentiality when handling sensitive employee and payroll information
- 1+ years of experience in payroll and HR support or a blended HR/payroll role
- Knowledge of California wage and payroll compliance
- Highly detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
- Comfortable handling administrative and clerical HR tasks in a manual or semi-manual environment
- Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information with discretion
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
- $27-$29/hour
- Direct hire opportunity
- Full-time, Monday-Friday
- Fully onsite in Central San Diego, with potential for a hybrid schedule after training
- 15 paid holidays
