Senior Personal Banker - Totowa (Full-time)

Position Overview The Senior Personal Banker plays a key role in the branch sales and service environment, building long‑term customer relationships and delivering a positive customer experience. Responsibilities include greeting customers, performing needs‑based assessments, opening accounts, cross‑selling products, tele‑consulting, developing relationships, servicing accounts, acting as lobby manager, and processing customer transactions such as check cashing, withdrawals, deposits, and loan payments. The role focuses on managing a book–of‑business, retaining customers, and coordinating specialist support from lending, investment, trust, and treasury teams. The position may qualify for Life and Health Licensing and works under general supervision. Key Responsibilities Sales Meet sales referrals and cross‑selling goals by understanding product features and benefits. Promote bank products, refer or resolve customer inquiries regarding accounts or other banking services. Actively refer customers for commercial products or services to branch manager, market manager, or appropriate business partner. Exceed customer expectations through active engagement, commitment and dedication to servicing and building relationships. Advance the bank’s corporate sales program through consultative need‑based assessments, developing new relationships, expanding existing ones and managing a growing book‑of‑business. Service Identify opportunities with customers and prospective customers through lobby management. Assist customers and prospective customers with digital technologies and provide referrals to other lines of business. Maintain cost efficiency and assure quality of customer service while adhering to sales and brand standards. Take responsibility for both sales and service objectives. Execute expectations for a positive customer service experience. Operations Ensure operational and financial safety and soundness in accordance with bank policies, compliance and applicable laws. Leverage lobby management to control and mitigate risk. Establish customer identity according to guidelines and adhere to all compliance procedures. Assist branch management with branch operations as needed. Open, close, and supervise the servicing of the branch in the absence of branch management. Assist personal bankers with complex and escalated customer questions, providing supervisor overrides as necessary. Perform transactions including check cashing, withdrawals, deposits, and loan payments. Prepare and submit Currency Transaction Reports and Suspicious Activity Forms for appropriate transactions. Assist in training other branch employees and support the contact center during high call volumes. Handle customer inquiries by telephone and provide access to safe‑deposit boxes. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED. Minimum of 6 months of sales or service experience in a retail environment. Strong interpersonal, listening, written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work a flexible schedule. Positive and professional demeanor with all customers and coworkers. Strong mathematical and analytical skills. Ability to handle escalated matters and problem‑solve for resolution. Understanding of safety and security practices. Demonstrated relationship‑building skills and consultative sales conversations. Strong customer service and advocacy skills. Strong organizational and time‑management skills. Proficient PC skills, including Microsoft Office. Required to register as a mortgage loan originator with the NMLS prior to handling mortgage applications or negotiations. Preferred Qualifications 2 years of retail sales and service experience. Retail banking experience. Supervisory experience. Life and Health licenses to support the investment program. Working Conditions Retail banking branch environment. Must be willing to work required overtime, travel to other locations/branches, and adapt to new job locations or reassignment as directed. Lifting 5–25 lbs. Prolonged sitting/standing. Occasional bending or stooping to retrieve vault coins. Work is performed in a normal office environment with moderate noise levels. Travel to customers and property locations may occur. Pay Details $21.23 – $26.51 per hour. Base pay may vary based on skills, experience, education, location and business needs. The role is incentive eligible based on company, business, or individual goal achievement.
