Job Duties

Position Title: AmeriCorps Groundwork Fellow

Hours/Time Commitment: Full-time (40 hrs/wk); Monday - Friday

Start Date: September 1, 2026

End date: June 30, 2027

Location: Specific placement is determined by geographic location and site availability

Compensation:

Living Stipend (pre-tax) $1236 twice/month for 40 hrs/wk

Segal Education award upon successful completion of service of $5,176.50

The AmeriCorps Groundwork Fellow position is an indirect service opportunity that helps Minnesota nonprofits and government agencies serve young people more effectively. Groundwork Fellows help build the capacity of youth-serving organizations that address educational barriers and engage youth as agents of change. Our partner organizations are diverse, but no matter where you serve, you’ll be working shoulder to shoulder with other people who share your commitment to young people.

Alliance Groundwork Fellow Position Responsibilities (may include):

Implement strategies to enhance the organization's capacity to serve the community effectively

Support initiatives that engage youth as agents of change within their communities

Assist in developing systems, tools, and practices to enhance organizational effectiveness

Collaborate with host site staff and community partners to better address community needs

Support data collection and evaluation efforts to measure program outcomes and impact

Maintain program processes, reports, and materials to ensure program sustainability

Demonstrate initiative in leading opportunities for program development and improvement

Adhere to the Groundwork Fellow project proposal developed by the host site supervisor

Participate in required observances and activities related to Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Global Youth Service Day, and other assigned activities

Participate in all required Alliance, AmeriCorps, and Host Site meetings, trainings, and assignments

AmeriCorps Eligibility Requirements:

18 years or older

High School graduate with a Diploma or GED

A U.S. Citizen, U.S. National or Lawful Permanent Resident Alien of the United States

Not have served more than the allowed number of AmeriCorps terms before this term—eligibility based on AmeriCorps term limitations

Able to pass a complete National Service Criminal Service History Background check (including National Sex Offender Registry, State of service and State of residence, and FBI checks) - eligibility requirements listed here

Alliance Groundwork Fellow Qualifications:

Interest and experience in youth, service, education, and non-profit work

Strong written and oral communication skills

Ability to effectively manage with a variety of tasks and priorities in order to meet goals

Ability to work effectively with people of a variety of backgrounds and life experiences

Self-motivated, able to work in a team, take initiative and work independently

Ability to present oneself in a highly professional manner and be an ambassador of the program
