You ensure work orders are completed accurately, efficiently, and on time to support smooth restaurant operations.You Make a Difference by proactively reducing downtime and extending the life of equipment, Serve with Heart by delivering safe, consistent, and high-quality maintenance that supports Family Members and enhances the guest experience, Win as One by communicating clearly and collaborating with Restaurant and MSC Leadership, and Move Forward Boldly by following standards, building technical skills, and adapting to new tools and technologies to deliver effective solutions.Day-to-Day Ingredients — ResponsibilitiesAs a Preventive Maintenance Technician, you will:Support an average of 40-45 restaurants.Work an average of 42 hours per week, Monday through Friday.Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on HVAC, refrigeration, commercial kitchen equipment, beverage stations and facility systems to ensure safe and reliable operation.Complete routine maintenance tasks, service calls, and cosmetic repairs to maintain brand standards and support daily operations.Perform basic troubleshooting and inspections to identify potential issues early, escalating complex or major repairs to MSC Technicians as needed.Execute and manage assigned maintenance work orders accurately and on time using mobile technology and work order systems, in alignment with service level expectations.Respond to restaurant maintenance needs and service requests to help minimize equipment downtime and operational disruptions.Perform maintenance tasks across electrical, plumbing, and general facility systems within defined scope.Maintain parts inventory, tools, and a clean, organized work environment, including company vehicle.Communicate effectively with Restaurant and MSC Leadership and ensure all work is performed safely and in compliance with company standards.The Sauce — Pay & PerksAs a Preventive Maintenance Technician, you will receive:Base compensation $26/hr; paid weeklyBonus Program that scales up to 2.5X payout potential based on company resultsCompany Vehicle and gas card provided5 weeks PTOPaid Corporate HolidaysPaid Parental Leave*401(k) match $1/$1 up to 4%Competitive Medical, Dental and Vision Benefits*Short-term and Long-term Disability Benefits*Opportunities for Career Development and GrowthWhataburger Family Foundation - Scholarship Program (dependents eligible) and Hardship Grant AssistanceTablet and phone providedDiscounted Meals for You and a GuestWireless Service DiscountsComputer & Software DiscountsFitness / Gym DiscountsAwards and recognition for all you doRetirement Celebration ProgramWhat You Bring to the Table — Required ExperienceAs a Preventive Maintenance Technician, you must have:High school diploma or GED equivalent (or equivalent work experience).Ability to work full-time hours and travel both locally and long distances (including air travel), to worksites, meeting sites, and other locations.Working knowledge of HVAC, refrigeration, electrical, and plumbing systemsAbility to diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair commercial kitchen and facility equipmentStrong problem-solving and time management skillsAbility to work independently in a fast-paced, multi-location environmentEffective communication and customer service skillsValid driver's license and ability to meet Whataburger MVR standards.Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and safely work on ladders and rooftops.Extra Toppings — Desired ExperienceAs a Preventive Maintenance Technician, we prefer you to have:Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) 608 Universal CertificationWhere & How You'll WorkThis role is field based, supporting restaurants across an assigned market or region. You'll travel frequently to partner with Operations, provide onsite support, and maintain strong relationships with leaders and teams in the field. Success in this role requires full-time availability, flexibility to adjust to evolving operational priorities, and the ability to travel regularly including day trips, overnight travel, and extended market visits.
