Sales Representative (Countertop) Location: Hayward, CA Senior Level: Associate Employment Type: Full-time Work Hours: Monday to Friday 08:00 AM to 05:00 PM, 2 Saturdays a month 09:00 AM to 01:00 PM Compensation: Salaried, exempt; $60,000 to $70,000 per year, with new hires ranging $80,000 to $100,000+ depending on experience and commission structure. Summary: The sales representative is responsible for growing and developing the sales and margins of MSI’s countertop products with fabricators and K&B’s within an assigned geographic territory. Responsibilities: Develop relationships with current customers and potential customers within specific territory Assist customers by providing knowledge and training on company products to their store personnel, ensuring personnel can present product and negotiate well with consumers Understand our products, market competition, and how to position products to overcome these factors Manage displays, samples, and selling tools for customer availability Consult with dealers on retail pricing, advertising, promotions and ROI by understanding retail business financials Quote prices, discuss credit terms, and prepare sales contracts for customer orders Estimate delivery dates to customer based on company delivery schedules Review and analyze sales reports to identify sales potential with current and potential customers Utilize marketing tools such as catalogs, brochures and vendor collateral to broaden reach in territory and promote company product Research and analyze customer needs and demands based on market information Investigate and resolve customer claims/problems with deliveries, returns and credits Attend trade shows throughout the year as required Travel 40%-80% locally, occasionally nationally and/or internationally Perform additional duties as required and/or requested Education and Experience Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree required Two (2) plus years’ experience in channel distribution sales Minimum 2 years of related industry experience; natural stone, slab or hard flooring industries Minimum 2 years of outside B2B sales experience Strong math skills to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, percentages, area, and volume Ability to determine solutions for customers Results-oriented; able to work independently and within a team environment Valid driver’s license Willing to travel up to 75% of the time; industry experience highly preferred (countertop, distribution, building materials) Excellent sales and negotiation skills Good communication and people skills Confidence and motivation to work toward targets Good organizational and time management skills Ability to work well alone or within a team Demonstrated aptitude for problem solving Resilience to deal with customers who turn you down Bilingual in Spanish a plus Physical Demands: Representative physical demands required to successfully perform essential functions; reasonable accommodations available Regular use of hands to handle objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; frequent walking, standing and occasional sitting Regularly lift, pull and move up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds; specific vision abilities required include close vision Position is safety-sensitive Benefits: Referral, holiday, and annual bonuses or commission opportunities Eligibility for annual merit-based increase Paid Time Off Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance Company-paid Short Term and Long Term disability Company-paid Life Insurance Tuition Reimbursement Traditional and Roth 401(k) plans with company matching contributions Free, company-sponsored 1-on-1 tutoring for children/dependents in grades K-12, including free SAT and ACT tutoring Awards: Top 5 fastest growing companies - OC Business Journal Supplier Diversity Award - Home Depot #1 Flooring Distributor multiple years in a row - Floor Covering Weekly Top Workplaces Award winner multiple times - Top Workplaces MSI Founder named the Entrepreneur of the Year - Ernst and Young MSI is an equal opportunity employer that celebrates diversity and fosters inclusion and belonging for all employees.
