Bilingual Phlebotomist

We are seeking an experienced bilingual phlebotomist who is proficient in both Spanish and English. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of recent experience in phlebotomy and be comfortable performing venipunctures independently from the first day. This role requires someone who is reliable, punctual, and possesses strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform blood draws, label specimens, and centrifuge specimens.
• Record maintenance data and decontaminate equipment as necessary.
• Update patient information accurately.
• Collect and store specimens following established procedures.
• Clearly and courteously explain the venipuncture process and other specimen collection processes to patients.
• Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
• Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
• Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders.
• Verify test requisitions or computer labels against scripts for accuracy.
• Package specimens for transport.
• Store specimen samples at required temperatures and in appropriate containers, ensuring proper labeling and transport procedures to maintain specimen integrity.

Essential Skills

• At least 2 years' experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
• Proficiency in venipuncture and specimen collection.
• Ability to perform mock blood draws with phlebotomy professionals.
• Strong communication skills in both Spanish and English.

Work Environment

The position is based in the Burnside Bronx location and operates Monday through Friday, with additional hours on alternate Saturdays from 9 am to 3 pm. The work environment is fast-paced, and candidates are expected to adhere to safety and procedural protocols to ensure the integrity of specimens.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bronx, NY.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $23.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
