Applicable only for MA & MOS positions in the Centers of Excellence and Maryland Family Care practices, of which this role applies to.ResponsibilitiesThe Medical Assistant I demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development appropriate to the ages of patients served by their department. Additionally, the MAI demonstrates competency in applying these principles when providing individualized care to specific patients. Assists the MD/NP/PA in performing procedures. Operates, maintains and calibrates all equipment.The following duties fall under the responsibility of the Medical Assistant but are not limited to:Setting up and assisting with office proceduresChaperone providers during patient examinationTaking pre-op and post-op photos of patientsMaintaining surgical instruments and transporting instruments to Central Sterile (CSS)Processing surgical specimens and transporting them to PathologyMaintaining and stocking exam roomsOrdering clinical suppliesCompleting FMLA and Disability formsCleaning and resetting exam roomsTravel to satellite locations as neededTake patient vital signs, record medical histories, and update electronic health records (EHR).Administer injections, blood draws, and immunizations as directed by healthcare providers.
