Registered Nurse - PCU (Progressive Care Unit)

What You'll Do:

• Deliver advanced nursing care to patients with diverse acute conditions in a 12-bed PCU.
• Manage a patient ratio of 1:3, providing critical interventions, monitoring, and education.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including RT, hospitalists, OT, PT, and ST to ensure comprehensive patient care.
• Perform procedures such as CVL placement, foley cath management, tube feedings, arterial line management, and IV drip titrations.
• Demonstrate proficiency in EKG interpretation, DIABETES management, and medication administration.
• Maintain compliance through certifications like BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS.

Required Skills:

• Minimum 2 years of recent acute care RN experience.
• Valid Registered Nurse license.
• Certification in BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS.
• Ability to pass an EKG competency exam.
• Strong clinical skills including CVL management, medication titrations, and patient assessments.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Nice to Have Skills:

• Experience with Meditech Expanse EMR system.
• Prior experience in stroke or cardiac units.
• Additional certifications such as PALS or TNCC.
• Flexibility to float to other units including Medsurg and Stroke units.

Preferred Education and Experience:

• Associate or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN preferred).
• 2+ years of recent RN experience in an acute care setting.
• Prior travel nursing experience is a plus, but first-time travelers with the required experience are welcome.

Other Requirements:

• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications.
• Ability to work 4-day or 3-day workweeks, including every other weekend.
• No call responsibilities; work scheduled with major holidays included.
• Must adhere to hospital dress code including pewter scrubs and proper badge display.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation; free parking available.
• Professionalism is mandatory, including no cell phone use in patient care areas and maintaining proper dress code.
