Pricing Manager

MDC Precision is seeking an experienc ed Pricing Manager with a strong manufacturing backgro und to lead the Quote Team within the Sales Operations organization and strengthen the company’s pricing, costing, and margin management capabilities. Manufacturing experience is a mandatory requirement for this position . Candidates must have direct experience working with manufacturing cost structures, product costing, and quoting within a manufacturing environment. Experience limited primarily to software, services, retail, banking, or other non-manufacturing industries will not meet the requirements of this role. The Pricing Manager will own the end-to-end quoting process and partner closely with Sales, Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Finance to ensure customer quotes accurately reflect the true cost of manufacturing. This individual must understand how materials, labor, BOMs, routings, machine time, overhead, outside processing, tooling, freight, and manufacturing cap acity affect product cost, pricing, and gross margin. Reporting to the VP of Global Sales, with dotted-line accountability to Finance/CFO for costing, margin, and pricing governance, this leader will develop scalable quoting processes, improve manufacturing cost visibility, support strategic pricing decisions, and provide actionable analytics to drive profitable growth. Experience in precision manufacturing, semiconductor equipment, vacuum components, engineered products, machining, or similarly complex manufacturing environments is strongly pre f erred. Lead, coach, and manage the Quote Team to ensure timely, accurate, and professional customer quote responses. Establish clear quote ownership, accountability, and operating cadence across the team. Develop team capabilities in manufacturing costing, pricing, customer responsiveness, data quality, and commercial judgment. Ensure quoting practices accurately reflect manufacturing processes, costs, capacity, and margin requirements. End-to-End Manufacturing Quoting Own the quote workflow from RFQ intake through manufacturing cost build-up, pricing review, approval routing, quote release, and post-quote analysis. Partner with Engineering, Operations, and Supply Chain to understand manufacturing requirements before establishing pricing. Develop quoting standards, templates, approval matrices, pricing guidelines, and process controls. Improve quote turnaround time while maintaining accuracy in manufacturing cost assumptions. Ensure quotes properly account for material, labor, machine time, overhead, tooling, outside processing, freight, and other manufacturing costs. Manufacturing Costing, Pricing Strategy & Margin Analysis Develop and validate product costs within a manufacturing environment. Work closely with Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Finance to validate: Bills of Material s (BOMs)Manufacturing routings Material costs Direct and indirect labor and machine rates Manufacturing overhead and absorption Outside processing Tooling and setup costs Freight and logistics Production volumes and capacity assumptions Analyze quote-, customer-, and product-level profitability. Identify margin leakage, costing inaccuracies, and pricing inconsistencies. Evaluate actual manufacturing costs against quoted and standard costs. Support pricing decisions that balance competitiveness, manufacturing capacity, customer requirements, market conditions, and required margin thresholds. Cross-Functional Manufacturing Partnership Serve as a key liaison between Sales, Finance, Engineering, Operations, and Supply Chain. Work directly with manufacturing and engineering teams to understand how products are built and what drives the cost. Resolve quote assumptions, manufacturing lead-time inputs, cost gaps, capacity constraints, and customer requirements. Ensure pricing decisions align with operational capabilities and financial objectives. Executive Reporting & Metrics Track quote cycle time, win/loss trends, gross margin performance, pricing exceptions, quote backlog, and other key commercial metrics. Identify trends affecting manufacturing costs and profit ability. Provide clear reporting, insights, and recommendations to senior leadership. Translate company priorities into measurable Quote Team objectives. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations, or a related field. MBA, CPA, CMA, or advanced analytical certification is a plus. 7+ years of pricing, costing, quoting, cost accounting, FP&A, or commercial finance experience within a manufacturing environment. Direct manufacturing industry experience is r equired. Demonstrated experience developing or analyzing manufacturing product costs. Strong working knowledge of: Standard costing Bills of Materials (BOMs) Manufacturing routings Labor and machine rates Overhead allocation and absorption Material costing Gross margin analysis Pricing governance Prior experience leading a quoting, pricing, cost analysis, finance, sales operations, or commercial operations team. Advanced Microsoft Excel and ERP experience. Experience using manufacturing ERP/MRP systems, quoting tools, BI/reporting platforms, and cost models. Excellent executive communication skills and the ability to translate complex manufacturing cost information into clear business recommendations. Strong business acumen, analytical ability, attention to detail, cross-functional collaboration, and ownership mindset. This individual should be comfortable working direct ly with Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, and manufacturing teams to understand how a product is built, determine what it costs to manufacture, and translate those costs into competitive and profitable customer Candidates who do not have substantive manufacturing costing, pricing, or quoting experience will not be con sidered.
