Accounting Assistant

Location 1705 SE 9th Avenue,Battle Ground, WA, 98604,United States Base Pay $21.00 - $31.5 / Hour Job Category Office Job Purpose and Responsibilities The Accounting Assistant is accountable for creating journal entries and assembling supporting documentation, as well as for tracking the contents of accounts, and creating monthly financial statements. The Accounting Assistant also reconciles accounts to ensure their accuracy for all subsidiaries and related party affiliations. Responsibilities Maintain Journal Entries Enter all journal entries into the accounting software Record supporting information for all journal entries Process reversing entries Process recurring journal entries Ensure that recurring entries are changed or terminated at appropriate trigger points Assist Accounting Manager with audits as required Balance Accounts Assist in the production of financial statements Ensures payable are paid timely and discounts are taken Assist in accounts receivables Close out project accounts upon project completion Reconcile the balance in subsidiary ledger to the summary-level account in the general ledger. Transactions Monitor fixed assets, calculate and process depreciation and depletion Assist Accounting Manager with all tax reporting to government entities including income taxes, property taxes, sales taxes, use taxes, and so forth Assist in recording cash receipts and make bank deposits Reconcile bank accounts and petty cash accounts Conduct periodic reconciliations of all accounts to ensure their accuracy Assemble information for external auditors for the annual audit Maintain an orderly accounting filing system Maintain the chart of accounts Maintain the annual budget Assist in comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements Provide clerical and administrative support to management as requested Reporting Assist in the production and issuing of timely and complete financial statements Provide assistance in the production of the annual budget and forecasts Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues as needed Provide for a system of management cost reports Provide financial analyses as needed, in particular for capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations Perform other accounting activities as required and other duties as assigned Understanding of the hierarchical view and complexity of the companies needs and the ability to tie it all together Make budgetary recommendations Uphold Tapani’s Purpose document: Demonstrate actions and behaviors that align with Tapani’s Purpose and Values. Desired Skills and Qualifications Associates degree or equivalent years experience specializing in Accounting Two or more years entry level accounting experience General Computer Skills Basic knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) Solid Excel skills and experience with accounting systems, Vista by Viewpoint experience preferred Entry level understanding of the accounting cycle, account classifications, debits and credits. Communication - Strong verbal and written communication skills, speaks clearly and well in positive or negative situations. Judgment – Exhibits sound and accurate judgment; makes timely decisions in order to meet organizational objectives in a legal, moral and ethical manner. Initiative – Works well independently and as part of a team; displays readiness to undertake or instigate projects on his or her own.
