Patient Access Liaison - Rare Disease Reimbursement Expert

Patient Access Liaison – UPLIZNA – Rare Disease What You Will Do Provide logistical, non‑medical educational assistance to patients, caregivers, and office/site of care staff (physicians, nurses, office managers, and executives). Secure written or electronic HIPAA authorization for patients in the assigned geography. Develop relationships with patients and caregivers via phone, text, email, virtual or in‑person contact. Assess individual patient needs and develop an education and resource plan in coordination with the patient’s family and healthcare team. Educate patients and prescribers on UPLIZNA coverage, benefits, prior‑authorization steps, and medication access processes. Provide information on co‑pay assistance programs, national foundations, and free drug programs, as appropriate. Proactively educate prescribers and sites of care on coverage requirements, prior‑authorization procedures, coding, and billing requirements for Horizon rare disease therapies. Support patients in obtaining access to funding and reimbursement, responding to claims reviews, and handling denied claims. Collaborate with Safety & PV to report adverse events and product complaints through medical information. Work closely with the Horizon cross‑functional team, including Case Managers, Site of Care, Market Access and external vendors. Adhere to professional standards, compliance guidance, policies, procedures, and federal, state, and local requirements. What We Expect Of You Basic Qualifications Doctorate and at least 2 years of patient services and/or access and reimbursement experience. Master’s and at least 4 years of patient services and/or access and reimbursement experience. Bachelor’s and at least 6 years of patient services and/or access and reimbursement experience. Preferred Qualifications Scientific background with ability to learn product and disease information. Clinical background (e.g., nursing) is a plus. Experience with buy‑and‑bill reimbursement for pharmaceutical products. Experience with orphan or rare disease programs. Familiarity with HIPAA guidelines and FDA requirements. Adherence to internal and OIG compliance guidelines is a must. Ability to handle difficult patient cases and resolve hurdles. Team‑oriented communication skills with case liaisons and sales reps. Readiness to respond within 24 hours to prevent treatment lapses. Strong analytical skills and ability to report meaningful activity in the region. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and a professional, proactive demeanor. Effective interpersonal and strategic mindset skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Potential for up to 50% travel, including overnight and weekend commitments.
