Assistant/Associate Professor of Instruction, Department of Philosophy and Classics Location: San Antonio, TX Regular/Temporary: Regular Job ID: 15139 Full/Part Time: Full Time Position Summary The Department of Philosophy and Classics invites applications for a renewable three-year Assistant/Associate Professor of Instruction position, starting August 2026. We are seeking candidates with a specialization in any aspect of Greek language, literature, or history. The successful candidate will be expected to teach introductory courses in Greek, Classical Mythology, and other Classics courses in translation based on the candidate's research specialty and departmental need. We are especially interested in someone who will develop and execute plans for growing undergraduate majors and minors in Classical Studies. Qualifications Required Qualifications Ph.D. in Classics (or related discipline) by the time of appointment. Evidence of both teaching excellence and ability to grow Classical studies majors and minors. This position requires the ability to maintain the security and integrity of UT San Antonio and its infrastructure. Preferred Qualifications We are interested in candidates who bring innovative language pedagogy to their courses and who focus on any aspect or period of ancient Greece, with specialties in language, literature, history, reception, science or philosophy, in order to complement our existing strengths. The ideal candidate will be an engaging instructor with teaching experience and with a history of generating student interest, building enrollments, and contributing to department service and community.
