Summary Certified Radiologic Technologist – Invasive Specialist position in the Interventional Radiology/Cardiac Catheterization Lab at Highland General Hospital, Oakland, CA. Full‑time, day shift, 10‑hour rotations with rotating on‑call duties. Role Overview The CRT‑Invasive Specialist assists radiologists and cardiologists in invasive procedures, ensures safe imaging acquisition, maintains equipment, and supports patient monitoring and emergency care within the lab setting. Duties & Essential Job Functions Responsible for quality control of radiology imaging equipment, fluoroscopy checks, and radiation protection for professional staff and physicians. Contributing member of the Interventional Radiology/Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory team, working with cardiologists, radiologists, registered nurses, and cardiovascular technicians. Provides the technical skills necessary to assist the physician in performing interventional radiology and cardiac catheterization procedures. Provides a safe environment for the patient during procedures and the patient’s stay in the laboratory. Functions as a scrub assistant, ensuring aseptic technique compliance and maintaining adequate floor and room stock for imaging procedures. Assists in recording, storing, retrieving, and analyzing data obtained during interventional cardiovascular procedures. Assists in monitoring patient hemodynamic data, ECG, and angiographic data; recognizes changes and reports to the physician and team in a time‑sensitive manner. Assists in preparing radiologic and laboratory equipment while adhering to aseptic technique; maintains and troubleshoots equipment as needed. Performs circulator duties, including gathering and organizing equipment, instruments, and supplies necessary for cardiac catheterization and interventional radiology procedures, and providing emergency ACLS interventions appropriate to scope of practice. Assists RN/MD with monitoring moderate sedation and applies ACLS protocols during critical situations. Assists RN/MD with pre‑, intra‑, and post‑procedure assessments on all patients to meet nursing needs and to consult with the physician and professional staff. Provides patient education. Assumes on‑call duty as assigned; responds within 30 minutes to the hospital for emergency procedures. Participates in promoting a healthful, safe, therapeutic environment for patients and families; sets up and controls infection‑control environment. Participates in implementation of patient care standards, infection‑control standards, and quality‑assurance criteria; assists with studies and unit meetings. Contacts physicians and/or other departments to obtain or provide patient information. Accompanies, assists, and represents patients’ needs to other providers. Minimum Qualifications Graduate of an accredited school of Radiology Technology. Three years recent experience in a cardiac catheterization laboratory with interventional cardiology/STEMI; at least one year within the last two years. Interventional radiology experience preferred. Licenses & Certifications Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association. Current California Fluoroscopy permit. Valid California state certificate as a Radiologic Technologist; ARRT Radiologic Technologist certification or equivalent education approved by the state. RCIS‑eligible (Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist) preferred; eligibility within two years of hire and exam passed within one year of eligibility. Pay Range $71.80–$92.20 per hour.
