Maintenance Technician – Grandview Area The Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring equipment uptime through timely, in-depth troubleshooting and repair. The technician performs troubleshooting and repair of all production equipment including injection molders, blow molders, fillers/cappers, labelers, case packers, conveyors, palletizers, and stretch wrappers. The technician also performs troubleshooting and repair of facilities and auxiliary equipment such as chillers, air compressors, Reverse Osmosis, and other water filtration equipment, as well as general maintenance of the plant. The technician works directly with machine operators, supervisors, preventative maintenance mechanics and senior maintenance technicians to resolve mechanical issues that arise during shifts. Essential Functions Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems using schematics, technical drawings and testing equipment Repair equipment, fixtures, systems, conveyors, and other equipment at the facility Modify, lubricate, diagnose, and operate equipment in accordance with Niagara’s defined processes Maintain industrial control systems Work independently and with other team members to complete repairs in a safe and timely manner May fill in for a production operator as needed Create and report repairs throughout the shift; complete required work order paperwork and document parts and material usage Understand and follow plant safety rules, including safe lifting practices and safe machine operation; use personal protective equipment where required Maintain regular and predictable attendance, an essential function of the job to ensure equipment and facility uptime Qualifications Minimum Qualifications 4 years – Experience in field or similar maintenance environment 4 years – Experience in position 4 years – Experience managing people/projects (experience may include a combination of work experience and education) Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and resolve issues across multiple departments Basic experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook Effective communication of issues and solutions to cross‑functional team members Ability to read and interpret schematics: electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic Skilled in the use of shop equipment such as hydraulic and mechanical presses, bench grinder, drill press, mill, lathe, and assorted power tools Proficient with precision measuring equipment such as calipers, dial indicators, bore gauges, and depth gauges Willingness to be a technical leader and trainer within a specific area of plant or machine center Will need own toolbox and basic tools Preferred Qualifications 6 years – Experience in field or similar manufacturing environment 6 years – Experience in position 6 years – Experience managing people/projects (experience may include a combination of work experience and education) Experience in high‑speed manufacturing, bottling, beverage, packaging, or plastics industries Experience with variable frequency drive (VFD), servo drives, and servo motor—rotary equipment such as rotary press or filler Knowledge of thermodynamics, heat transfer, or plastics processing Experience with Krones, Sidel, or Husky equipment HVAC experience including chillers and/or air compressors Experience with electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics for troubleshooting Skilled in fabrication capabilities such as cutting and welding (MIG, TIG or stick) Skilled with electrical systems including 480VAC and 24VDC power Ability to read and interpret process and instrumentation schematics Skilled in repairing VFDs, servo motors and controllers, communication systems (ASI‑bus, CAN‑bus, PROFIBUS, Ethernet), PLC I/O cards, and safety modules Competencies Lead: Like an owner; safety priority; escalates safety issues immediately; prioritizes tasks based on goals; respects others; confronts interpersonal issues; honors commitments; responds promptly to internal and external customers; recommends continuous improvement; adapts to changes; seeks solutions; looks for self‑improvement opportunities; communicates clearly and promptly Education Minimum required: High School Diploma Preferred: Associate’s Degree in manufacturing, manufacturing technology, mechatronics, industrial manufacturing, manufacturing automation or a similar specialization Certification / License Required: None Preferred: None Benefits Regular full‑time team members receive a comprehensive benefits package.
