The Senate Office is responsible for the management, consultation, and the content and organizational support of the Senate of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft and its committees. Organizationally, the Senate Office is an independent staff office in the Fraunhofer Central Office, where it is directly located with the President and has a direct professional reporting line to the Senate Chair. The Senate consists of high-ranking members from business, science, and politics and acts as a supervisory and advisory body to the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft's Board of Directors. In the Senate Office, we combine excellent committee management with strategic consulting and the preparation of central decisions of the Senate. In your role, you will work closely with the department head, the Board, the Senate Chair, and the Senate members as well as other high-ranking stakeholders and contribute significantly to ensuring that complex issues are structured, decision-ready, and prepared at the highest quality level. In this way, the Senate Office directly supports the Senate in fulfilling its statutory duties for the benefit and to ensure the future viability of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft. Your workplace is Berlin (preferred) or Munich (alternative). Here you will drive change. You will independently and with the team steer the content and organizational preparation and follow-up of Senate meetings, its committees, and special meetings from the development of the agenda and the coordination of documents to the preparation of results and the follow-up of decisions. You will be responsible for the care and development of the Senate's Audit Committee as a central body of financial supervision and governance; this includes the support and preparation of the chairpersons as well as the preparation and coordination of decision-relevant documents and briefings. You will analyze complex strategic, economic, scientific, legal, and governance-related issues, prepare them in an addressee-appropriate manner, and independently develop decision proposals, briefings, presentations, and action recommendations for the Senate and its chair. You will advise and support the department head on strategic, conceptual, and operational issues and independently take over challenging projects and cross-cutting topics. You will coordinate sensitive and complex coordination processes with the Board, Senate members, as well as internal and external partners and ensure that different perspectives are brought together to achieve sustainable common results. You will actively shape the further development of the office, identify optimization potentials, and develop processes and standards to ensure quality and efficiency.

You bring in

• Completed scientific university degree - preferably in social, political, administrative, economic, or legal sciences
• Several years of professional experience in a demanding committee, strategy, political, governance, or corporate environment ideally in close proximity to the supervisory board, board, presidency, or comparable decision-making bodies
• The ability to recognize strategically relevant developments and issues early and to accompany them in a forward-looking, solution-oriented, and advisory manner
• Proven experience in managing complex processes and sensitive stakeholder constellations at a high institutional level
• Excellent conceptual skills as well as a very high degree of structuring, prioritization, and management competence
• High degree of independence, initiative, and a strong sense of responsibility
• Sovereign, binding, and diplomatic behavior as well as absolute discretion and sensitivity in handling confidential information also in demanding or dynamic situations
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in German and English
• Eagerness to quickly familiarize yourself with new topics, bring together different perspectives, and achieve high-quality results even under time pressure
• Willingness to occasionally travel for work within Germany

The weekly working hours are 39. The position can also be filled part-time. The position is initially limited to two years (with option for extension). Employment, remuneration, and social benefits are based on the Collective Agreement for the Public Service (TVD). In addition, Fraunhofer may grant performance- and success-dependent variable components of remuneration.
