Site Engineer - Salt Lake City

Salary: $95,000 - 95,000 per year Requirements:

• A college degree or technical certification in Electronics, Electrical Engineering Technology, Telecommunications, or a related field; we will also consider equivalent military or field experience in place of a degree.
• At least 7 years of practical experience in telecommunications network engineering, circuit integration, or infrastructure planning.
• Strong technical expertise with BGP, TCP/IP, MPLS, and IPv6 as applied to telecommunications infrastructure and TDM-to-IP transitions.
• Hands-on experience with optical networking, telecom network hardware, and server-level deployment, testing, validation, and acceptance.
• Proven ability to model network growth and optimize capacity during major system upgrades.
• Telecommunications infrastructure background involving ground networks and air-to-ground systems and technologies.
• Ability to obtain and maintain an FAA Public Trust.
• Preferred: experience leading the technical integration side of large infrastructure programs and applying project management methods to delivery, compliance, and mission alignment.
• Preferred: working knowledge of cloud networking across AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform in support of hybrid NAS environments.
• Preferred: Cisco CCNA, CompTIA Network+, or an equivalent certification.
• Preferred: familiarity with FAA BNATCS protocols or similar mission-critical government network standards.
• Preferred education: bachelors degree.

• We support the integration, implementation, and testing of systems that support the National Airspace System.
• We provide technical direction to field teams and take ownership of assigned technical and project tasks.
• We manage technical activities across the network infrastructure lifecycle, from planning and site preparation through implementation and final deployment.
• We direct the migration of legacy TDM circuits to IP-based infrastructure, including circuit activation, cutover coordination, troubleshooting, and performance testing.
• We perform hands-on configuration, integration, testing, and troubleshooting of network infrastructure, protocols, servers, and related hardware.
• We resolve complex technical issues encountered during deployments across multiple sites and geographic regions.
• We analyze operational and technical data to identify trends, emerging issues, dependencies, and performance risks.
• We develop and recommend corrective actions to protect implementation quality and operational performance.
• We deliver clear status updates and maintain current technical documentation.
• We work primarily on-site at FAA facilities, with additional work at contractor or integrator facilities as needed.
• We travel regionally to FAA sites to support site surveys and installation activity.
• We handle equipment and work in telecommunications equipment rooms using hand and diagnostic tools.

MicroTheory Engineering is seeking experienced Site Engineers to act as technical leads for field integration work at assigned FAA facilities. We provide technical guidance and oversight while staying actively involved in hands-on work, supporting the physical and logical integration of fiber-optic and IP-based circuits and coordinating the transition from legacy copper and Time Division Multiplexing systems to modern fiber and IP network infrastructure across the National Airspace System. The role is performed primarily on-site at FAA facilities, with additional work at contractor or integrator locations as needed. Regional travel is required for site surveys and installation support.
