School Psychologist
The School Psychologist is responsible for the psychological assessment of students across academic, social, emotional, and behavioral domains utilizing problem-solving methods and standardized evaluations. This position supports the development and oversight of Individual Education Plans (IEPs), participates in problem-solving meetings, and collaborates with staff, families, students, and community partners to maximize student success in educational environments.
The H.G. Lewis Campus School provides specialized educational programming and therapeutic support services for students with emotional, behavioral, and educational needs. The program focuses on individualized instruction, trauma-informed care, and collaborative support systems that promote student growth and success.

Starting Pay: $57,002.40 – $62,844.60 annually, based on education and years of relevant experience
Paid Time Off: 3 weeks PTO in the first year
Holidays: 14 paid agency holidays

Retirement: 401K with up to 3% agency match
Full-Time Monday – Friday 7:45 a.m. – 2:45 p.m.

New Directions invests in developing future leaders through ongoing training, supervision, certification support, and advancement opportunities within educational and clinical services.
Conduct psychological assessments across academic, cognitive, emotional, social, and behavioral domains.
Provide or obtain current academic, cognitive, and social/emotional information for student placement decisions.
Assist in the development and maintenance of IEPs for special education students.
Prepare confidential psychological reports with recommendations for classroom accommodations and interventions.
Remain current with NYS and Federal special education regulations and laws affecting students with disabilities.
Chair and facilitate Committee on Special Education (CSE) meetings for residential students.
Explain testing results and recommendations to parents, staff, and students as appropriate.
Collaborate with teachers, social workers, and other staff in developing student educational plans.
Serve as liaison between the school and students' home districts for CSE/CPSE meetings and annual reviews.
Coordinate and participate in Functional Behavior Assessments and Behavior Intervention Plan meetings.
Track and disseminate Behavior Intervention Plans for students receiving special education services.
Maintain documentation and correspondence within the school's management systems.
Provide behavioral and educational consultation to staff as needed.
Manage a caseload of up to 5 students as needed to maintain compliance.
Maintain Therapeutic Crisis Intervention and First Aid/CPR certifications provided by the agency.
Attend required trainings, supervision meetings, and professional development opportunities.
Perform additional duties as assigned by the Educational Services Director.
Ability to work effectively with youth, families, staff, and community contacts from diverse backgrounds.
Ability to support youth and families using trauma-informed approaches.
Strong collaboration and communication skills across multiple formats including meetings, email, phone, and written documentation.
Ability to accept supervision and function as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Flexibility and adaptability in educational and therapeutic settings.
Valid NYS driver's license, adequate auto insurance, and compliance with agency driving policies.
Ability to pass annual physical for Category 2 job classification.
Compliance with agency safety and workplace standards.
Master's degree required, with a major in Special Education or Counseling preferred.
NYS Certification as a School Psychologist required.
