Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the surgeon and healthcare team to perform safe operations with optimal patient outcomes in the main operating room
• Practice perioperative nursing and apply knowledge, skill, and clinical judgment specific to the operating room and RNFA role
• Perform first assistant duties under the direction of the surgeon during the operative phase of the perioperative experience
• Perform duties of OR staff RN, including scrubbing and circulating, when not assigned in the RNFA role
• Assist with robotic surgical procedures including Robotic Urology, GYN, Colorectal, Surgical Oncology, Thoracic, and General Surgery cases
• Fulfill on-call responsibilities as needed per unit (until 11 PM only); rotating holiday call required; no weekend requirements per unit need

Required Qualifications

• Active New York State Registered Professional Nurse (RN) license — NY license only
• Completion of an accredited RN First Assistant (RNFA) program through an accredited college or university
• CNOR Certification required
• Da Vinci robotic surgery experience required
• BLS certification through American Heart Association only
• Proficient perioperative nursing practice including scrubbing and circulating experience

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Minimum two (2) years of operating room experience, preferably in a Level 1 trauma center
• ACLS certification through American Heart Association preferred
• Experience across multiple robotic surgical specialties including Whipple procedures, gastrectomies, hernias, and thoracic cases
