Accountant

Description The Staff Accountant's primary responsibilities are to prepare monthly and quarterly reinsurance journal entries for underwriting activity for various management programs. This includes reviewing gross activity, processing gross and ceded loss and lae reserves, preparing reinsurance statements and reporting. Complete monthly settlement invoices and billing for actual premium and loss activity. In addition, perform account reconciliations, quarterly variance analysis and assist with the completion of Reinsurance schedules within the Annual Statement. - Record underwriting activity for various products - Process reinsurance activity based on established reinsurance contract terms - Track outstanding reinsurance payables and recoverables within the Cash Application System - Assist in the completion of balance sheet and income statement variance analysis compared to forecast and follow-up on understanding the variance drivers - Complete Loss Development schedule for assigned products this will be part of the underwriting activity package reporting - Prepare and reconciled certain quarterly analytics and annual reinsurance filing - Complete timely general ledger reconciliations - Complete any assigned EDH testing as required - Complete Stat system uploads as required Skills bank reconciliation, journal entry, general ledger, oracle, Accounting Top Skills Details bank reconciliation,journal entry,general ledger,oracle Additional Skills & Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance or commensurate experience required - 2-3 years of experience in statutory insurance accounting preferred - Familiarity with Insurance products - (A&H, Life and Property and Casualty) preferred - Experience with annual statement software (efreedom), G/L system (Oracle Fusion), Stat System preferred - Proficiency in Microsoft office required - Basic understanding of insurance company operations preferred Experience Level Intermediate Level Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Oakbrook Terrace, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $33.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
