Purchasing Manager

Lead the purchasing team to be effective and reactive to production needs while ensuring cost-saving measures, procedures, and company objectives are followed and successfully implemented.

The responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Identify strategic partners and deliver improved cost reductions for the organization through supplier management, negotiations, strategic sourcing, commodity management, and total cost principles.
• Manage the purchasing suggestions for RFP and PO creation, late deliveries, requisitions, and reporting for purchasing team.
• Ensure the organization's SOPs, direction, and goals are communicated and executed within the purchasing team.
• Manage workload, expedites, priorities, and commodities within the purchasing team.
• Minimize purchasing price variance overage and defective material issues.
• Work with Quality for vendor rework, scrap, and accurate certificates of compliance.
• Determine bulk buys where there are cost savings and added support to manufacturing production.
• Collaborate across multiple departments, including production, procurement, quality, and engineering to expedite materials required to support customer demand.
• Must be able to communicate and effectively deal with all members of the staff.
• Reliable and punctual attendance with a positive and cooperative attitude.
• Other duties may be assigned to accomplish company or department objectives.

Requirements

Required:

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum of 5 years of purchasing experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong negotiation and supplier management skills.
• Experience in Procurement, Sourcing, or Supply Chain related to raw materials used in the fabrication of industrial equipment.
• Experience working with ERP systems and demand-driven planning environments.
• Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities.
• High level of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe products.

Preferred:

• Experience working in an ISO 9001 environment.
• Experience within industrial manufacturing, fabrication, or heavy equipment industries.

Ability to work in an office environment with frequent interaction with production and warehouse personnel. Ability to sit, stand, walk, and use standard office equipment for extended periods. Occasionally may be required to visit manufacturing areas and interact with suppliers and vendors.
