This role involves managing specific patients under physician supervision and collaboration, adhering to state regulations governing PA practice. The PA operates with a high degree of autonomy, utilizing critical thinking and problem-solving skills in both acute care and clinic environments.Essential Responsibilities:Conduct comprehensive assessments including health histories, physical exams, and evaluation of health risks.Order and interpret laboratory, radiographic, and bedside clinical data relevant to patient diagnoses.Establish medical diagnoses and order diagnostic studies.Perform and monitor therapeutic procedures.Document patient history, physical findings, assessments, and care plans accurately in medical records.Collaborate with physicians, nursing, and other healthcare professionals to direct individualized patient care.Prescribe and regulate medications in accordance with physician agreements and prescriptive authority.Complete history and physical exams for admissions, consultations, and clinic visits.Conduct daily bedside evaluations and document progress notes for physician review (inpatient).Prepare discharge paperwork and summaries timely.Write admitting, daily, and discharge orders as appropriate (inpatient).Maintain effective communication with patients, families, referring physicians, and support staff.Participate in quality, safety, and utilization studies to enhance patient care.Alert physicians to acute patient status changes and critical findings.Comply with medical staff rules, regulations, and health information policies.Prepare and submit billing materials promptly.Share on-call duties with physician backup as required.Education and Experience: Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program. Prior PA work experience preferred. Commitment to ongoing continuing medical education.Licensure and Certifications: Certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA). Licensed to practice in the applicable state.
