Maintenance Supervisor 1 - General (Stamford Campus) - 1 Position

SUMMARY Maintenance Supervisor 1 – General (MS1 – General) is a permanent, full‑time, 1st shift position (Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., 37.5 hours per week). It is located at the Stamford Campus of the University of Connecticut in the Facilities Operations Department. The salary range is $65,463.00–$83,829.00 yearly. Employees with no prior state service start at the minimum of the pay plan. The position is categorized as Emergency Support Services / Essential Staff and requires willingness to work during emergency closures, significant campus events and to respond to emergencies during overtime. RESPONSIBILITIES Supervise skilled trades and custodial staff, coordinating daily work assignments, estimating labor and material, and scheduling through AiM. Provide status updates to supervisors and managers, assist staff with troubleshooting and issue resolution, and complete work orders. Review and approve time entries in CORE‑CT, handle overtime equalization rosters, and maintain accurate administrative paperwork. Collaborate with Facilities Operations Business Services Staff to coordinate Environmental Health & Safety and UConn training (Asbestos Awareness, Confined Space, Lockout/Tag‑out, Mold Awareness, Respiratory Protection). Establish and maintain crew procedures, develop policy recommendations, and act as liaison with other operating units, agencies, and outside officials. Prepare reports, correspondence, and conduct performance evaluations. Perform related skilled duties as required, including estimating time, skills and material needed for repairs or improvements. Participate in emergency closures, delayed openings, and response to emergencies on overtime (nights, weekends, holidays). QUALIFICATIONS – MINIMUM General Experience : Five (5) years in the maintenance and repair of buildings. Experience on a military base, aircraft carrier or large compound may substitute for General Experience on a year‑for‑year basis. Special Experience : Three (3) of the General Experience years must include skilled tasks in building maintenance repair or the aforementioned military experience. For state employees, this is interpreted at the level of a Skilled Maintainer. Substitutions Allowed : Graduation from a vocational or technical school may substitute for one (1) year of General Experience. Required Licenses : Current motor vehicle operator license. QUALIFICATIONS – PREFERRED Knowledge and experience in Electrical, Plumbing, and/or HVACR. Strong leadership, oral and written communication, and interpersonal skills. Experience using AiM, HuskyBuy, Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, CORE‑CT, Kuali Financial System, and other CMMS. Working knowledge of regulated materials (asbestos, mold, lead, PCBs) and applicable safety regulations. Proficiency with iPad or similar technology. Knowledge of NP‑2 contract and university policies and procedures. Experience working in a union environment at a college or university. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Adequate physical strength, stamina, agility and visual and auditory acuity required for duties. Ability to drive and operate motor vehicles such as vans, box trucks, pickup trucks (including those with lift gates). Capability to walk up/down stairs frequently, climb ladders, lift, carry and push materials up to 75 lbs, use ladders, scaffolding, high‑lifts and enter confined spaces. Physical examination may be required.
