Delicatessen Clerk

As a Delicatessen Clerk, this position will be responsible for handling food in a safe manner and ensuring the work area is always clean and neat. You will run the department registers and receive payments, make change, etc., where applicable. Additionally, you will ensure a positive company image by providing courteous, friendly, and efficient customer service to customers and team members.

Core competencies include partnerships, growth mindset, results orientation, customer focus, and professionalism. Reporting relations include accountability to the District Store Director, Store Manager, Assistant Managers of Perishables, Store Operations, and Health Wellness Home; Food Service Director; and Delicatessen Department Manager. There are no positions that report to this role.

Primary duties and responsibilities include providing prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service, working with co-workers as a team, understanding and practicing proper sanitation procedures, reviewing the status and appearance of the food for freshness, preparing, finishing, and replenishing product, running the department registers, removing trash, and maintaining strict adherence to department and company guidelines related to personal hygiene and dress.

Secondary duties and responsibilities include washing dishes, ordering product and supplies, delivering orders, pricing products for customers, assisting in other areas of the store, and performing other job-related duties and special projects as required.

Knowledge, skills, abilities, and worker characteristics include the ability to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions, write identifying information, request supplies orally or in writing, solve arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages, and physically perform medium work.

The anticipated hourly starting wage for this position is $13.00 to $15.60 depending on experience. Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen.
