Adjunct faculty are hired on a part‑time, semester‑by‑semester basis and may teach a maximum of five classes per academic year. Classes are offered at various times and locations throughout the academic year. Essential Job Functions Teach Computer Technology courses at a variety of times and locations. Create engaging lessons that promote student involvement and application of the material. Submit required college reports and forms in a timely manner. Utilize a course syllabus for each course, following established institutional guidelines. Meet with and advise students before or after class, by appointment, electronic communication, or other appropriate methods. Evaluate students to measure progress in achieving course objectives and inform them of their progress in a timely manner. Maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community. Attend meetings, trainings, and orientations as required. Perform other reasonable, related duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Mastery of course content. Demonstrated leadership skills and a collaborative, team‑oriented style. Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to appreciate alternative viewpoints and work effectively with a variety of people. Interest in interdisciplinary teaching, service learning, learning technologies, course development, and adult learning methodologies. Commitment to academic excellence and dynamic lifelong learning. Ability to develop and implement instructional approaches such as service learning, civic engagement, learning communities, and effective use of technology. Use effective strategies to engage students in their learning. Physical Abilities The work is sedentary, with occasional walking, standing, bending, and light lifting. No special physical demands are required. Work Schedule and Conditions Typical work involves using a PC workstation, calculator, phone, and other office equipment. Interface with internal and external contacts as needed. Work is performed in climate‑controlled classrooms or labs with minimal safety hazards. Hours vary depending on class times; instructors must be available to students outside class instruction. Required Qualifications Associate degree or higher in an IT or related field and either three years of non‑teaching work experience in the field or industry certifications related to the course.
