Assembly TechnicianPosition Summary

The Assembly Technician is responsible for assembling, testing, troubleshooting, inspecting, and packaging electromechanical products and subassemblies. This position requires the ability to read engineering drawings and schematics, follow detailed work instructions, use precision measuring and testing equipment, and maintain accurate quality and inventory documentation.

Location: Indianapolis, INKey Responsibilities

• Read, interpret, and follow engineering drawings, schematics, bills of material, process instructions, and standing instructions.
• Assemble electromechanical products and subassemblies according to established procedures.
• Perform electrical testing, troubleshooting, and parameter calculations on finished products.
• Use hand tools, power tools, micrometers, calipers, gauge pins, multimeters, HiPot testers, and other standard assembly equipment.
• Cut and prepare wire and complete unpacking, repacking, and packaging activities as needed.
• Inspect incoming parts for dimensional, geometric, tolerance, and visual compliance with drawing specifications.
• Identify, document, and control nonconforming materials.
• Verify product quantities and shipping items against work orders.
• Pack completed products accurately and safely for shipment.
• Receive materials from vendors, customers, and other warehouses accurately and promptly.
• Assist with inventory management and material handling activities.
• Maintain quality records and support ISO certification requirements, document control, audits, and annual ISO training.
• Communicate effectively with coworkers and other departments to meet customer requirements.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least one year of experience in assembly, quality control, inventory management, or a related field.
• Ability to read and understand schematics, work instructions, bills of material, and technical documentation.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
• Basic computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft products and warehouse management systems.
• Strong mathematical and critical-thinking skills.
• Ability to solve practical problems and work with limited standardization.
• Ability to organize and prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work effectively as part of a team.
• Ability to communicate clearly with coworkers and support customer requirements.
• Ability to work overtime as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

• Electromechanical assembly experience.
• Technical school or other relevant technical training.
• Warehouse, packaging, material handling, or inventory experience.
• Experience operating powered industrial trucks (PIT), forklifts, pallet jacks, or similar equipment.

Work Environment

• May occasionally involve exposure to electrical hazards and the risk of electrical shock.
• May occasionally require working with potentially dangerous equipment.
• Travel to offsite locations is not required.
• Noise, heat, and cold exposure are not expected to be regular conditions of this position.

Physical Requirements

The employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.

• Walk and move throughout the work area frequently or continuously.
• Sit occasionally.
• Use hands and fingers frequently to handle tools, materials, products, computers, and other equipment.
• Stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl occasionally.
• Climb or balance occasionally, including when using ladders, forklifts, pallet jacks, or other warehouse equipment.
• Communicate effectively with coworkers and detect potentially hazardous conditions.
• Frequently lift, carry, or handle materials weighing up to 50 pounds.

Required Personal Protective Equipment

• Work boots are required.
