Senior FPGA Design Engineer

Senior FPGA Design Engineer position at a surgical robotics company developing safety-critical systems. The role involves designing and integrating FPGA modules for communications, processing, and motor control, working collaboratively across hardware, software, and manufacturing teams from concept through production.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop modular FPGA content for shared applications from concept to production
• Collaborate with FPGA verification teams to ensure functional coverage and simulation
• Create FPGA specifications, test protocols, and system-level documentation
• Perform in-system verification and validation of FPGA designs for robotic systems
• Participate in architectural decisions across FPGA and electrical system implementations

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in electrical or computer engineering
• Minimum 8 years of experience designing complex FPGA modules
• Proficiency in System-Verilog/Verilog; VHDL knowledge a plus
• Strong expertise with AMD Versal and Zynq UltraScale+ MPSoC devices
• Experience with FPGA build tools: Vitis, Vivado, SDK, HLS
• Knowledge of communication protocols: DDR, AXI4, PCIe, SPI, I2C
• Proficiency with lab equipment and programming languages like C or Python
