General Production Worker

Entry-Level Production Worker / Manufacturing Helper - Wildwood, FL

We are hiring Entry-Level Production Workers to join a heavy industrial steel manufacturing operation. This is a great opportunity for someone with industrial or manufacturing experience who wants to develop skills in material handling, overhead crane operation, forklift operation, steel production, and machine assisting.

Employees will receive hands-on training and have the opportunity to progress from Checker/Packer Helper to Press Helper as they become familiar with the operation.

Job Responsibilities

• Assist machine and equipment operators throughout the manufacturing process
• Handle, lift, move, stack, and organize steel pipe and tubing
• Bundle finished pipe and tubing for storage and shipment
• Tie and untie bundles of steel material
• Tag and properly identify finished material
• Perform visual quality inspections and identify obvious defects
• Hook and unhook steel material from overhead crane slings
• Assist with overhead crane movement of pipe, tubing, and steel
• Assist with dunnaging finished products for proper storage and transportation
• Work alongside Press Operators during the steel-forming process
• Help position and move steel before and after forming
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
• Follow all plant safety procedures and production instructions

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of verifiable industrial or manufacturing experience
• Comfortable working in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment
• Able to work around and handle steel pipe, tubing, sheet, and plate
• Willing to learn forklift and overhead crane operation
• Comfortable performing physical, hands-on production work
• Able to remain on your feet throughout the shift
• Strong attention to safety and quality
• Dependable attendance and punctuality
• Must be willing to work 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift

Training & Career Progression

Week 1: Safety & Equipment Training

• Plant and safety orientation
• HR onboarding
• Union introduction
• Forklift training
• Overhead crane training
• Plant procedures and expectations

Weeks 2-3: Checker/Packer Helper Training

Employees will learn:

• Material handling
• Pipe bundling and dunnaging
• Tagging finished material
• Visual quality inspection
• Stacking and organizing steel pipe
• Safely hooking material to crane slings
• Assisting with overhead crane operations

Next Step: Press Helper

Once trained on the finishing and material-handling side, employees can begin working alongside Press Operators to learn the production process, including forming flat steel sheet or plate into pipe, positioning heavy steel material, and assisting with production equipment.

Schedule

• 1st Shift: 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM
• 2nd Shift: 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM
• 3rd Shift: 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM

Candidates will initially train on 1st shift before being assigned to a shift based on production needs.

First Week Only: Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 11:00 AM, approximately 20 hours.

After the first week, employees transition to a standard 40-hour workweek.

Work Environment

This is a non-climate-controlled steel manufacturing facility. The plant is covered and has fans throughout the facility, but employees should expect temperatures to vary with the weather. Candidates must be comfortable working around heavy steel materials, industrial machinery, forklifts, and overhead cranes.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wildwood, FL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.36 - $18.36/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
