Postdoctoral Associate Position: Postdoctoral Associate Department: FACS‑Nutritional Sciences Location: Athens, GA Salary: $50,000 per year Start Date: July 1, 2026 Posting Date: June 16, 2026 Closing Date: Open until filled Position Summary: The University of Georgia is seeking a motivated and detail‑oriented Postdoctoral Researcher to join a dynamic nutritional neuroscience research lab focused on understanding the molecular, cellular, and behavioral mechanisms of how nutrition impacts brain function and how the brain regulates eating behavior. The candidate will contribute to the direction of ongoing research, design and perform experiments, collect and analyze data, mentor undergraduate and graduate students, write papers, attend scientific meetings, and write grants. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates interested in postdoctoral training in nutritional neuroscience research within a collaborative academic environment. Duties / Responsibilities Share discoveries through writing publications and presenting at scientific meetings. Perform molecular biology techniques such as PCR, Western blotting, immunohistochemistry, and microscopy. Analyze data and maintain accurate and detailed experimental records and logs. Design and conduct experiments involving rodent models, including behavioral testing, surgical procedures, and tissue collection. Participate in lab meetings and contribute to discussions on experimental design and data interpretation. Qualifications PhD in neuroscience, nutrition, biology, psychology, or a related field. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Laboratory experience with proficiency in at least one of the following: RT qPCR, immunohistochemistry, fiber photometry, proteomics or metabolomics, immunoblotting, in situ hybridization, rodent behavioral research. Physical Demands Sit and work at a computer workstation for extended periods in a standard office environment.
