About Fermi

Fermi is building one of the largest energy and data center projects in the world — a platform bringing 17+ gigawatts of power online over the next several years to serve the next generation of AI and hyperscale compute. The generation mix is led by natural gas, followed by nuclear, wind, solar, and battery storage. The commercial team is newly formed and is actively negotiating with major hyperscalers and enterprise tenants on some of the largest power and data center capacity agreements in the industry.

The Role

Fermi is hiring a Commercial Deal Structuring Lead to sit at the center of the commercial team's largest transactions — turning customer conversations into priced, structured, executable deals. This is deliberately not a back-office modeling role. You will build the economics, but your primary job is to own the deal: translate financial and technical complexity into commercial structures that work for both Fermi and its customers, sit directly in negotiations alongside sales and business development, and represent the logic of the deal to executive leadership and, eventually, the board and capital partners.
We're looking for someone who models — not someone who is a model. The right person is as comfortable structuring a negotiation as they are building the spreadsheet behind it.

What You'll Do

• Own end-to-end deal structuring for large power and data center capacity transactions — from initial economics through structure, pricing, and close.
• Build and maintain the financial models underpinning deal pricing (DCF, IRR/NPV, return thresholds) across natural gas, nuclear, and renewable generation economics as well as data center capacity.
• Partner directly with sales and business development leaders inside live customer negotiations — structuring terms that balance Fermi's return requirements with customer value and market-competitive pricing.
• Evaluate and structure alternative transaction forms as appropriate — power purchase agreements, capacity agreements, tax equity structures, lease / sale-leaseback, and other structured or project finance mechanisms.
• Lead a diligence and investment-review cadence for major commercial commitments, presenting recommendations to executive leadership.
• Build reporting and KPI dashboards to track deal pipeline economics and portfolio-level returns.
• Act as the connective tissue between Commercial, Site Development, Power, Construction, Capital Markets, and Legal to keep deal terms grounded in project and financing reality.
• Help build the commercial team's structuring playbook and processes as Fermi scales — this is a build-as-you-go role on a small, fast-moving team.

Requirements:

• 6+ years in financial modeling, deal structuring, or capital markets within energy, infrastructure, data centers, telecom, or another capital-intensive sector.
• A track record of translating financial models into negotiated deal structures — not just producing analysis for someone else to negotiate with.
• Fluency in DCF / IRR / NPV modeling and working knowledge of structured finance concepts (tax equity, ABS, project finance).
• Direct experience partnering with sales, business development, or commercial leaders on live, customer-facing deals.
• Experience presenting financial and commercial recommendations to executive leadership or an investment committee.
• Comfort operating in an early-stage, high-growth environment with limited support infrastructure — this role wears multiple hats.
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, or a related field; CFA (in progress or complete) is a plus, not required.
