Qualifications:

• Certification or licensure as a Sign Language Interpreter in accordance with state and national standards
• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
• Previous experience interpreting in K-12 academic settings strongly preferred
• Strong understanding of educational terminology, confidentiality, and professional boundaries
• Ability to collaborate effectively with educators, administrators, and families
• Comfortable adapting to various grade levels and learning environments
• Reliable, organized, and prompt in fulfilling duties

Responsibilities:

• Provide direct sign language interpretation between students and staff during classroom instruction, assemblies, and other school activities
• Collaborate with teachers and special education teams to ensure effective communication and support individual student needs
• Facilitate clear understanding of lesson content, instructions, and social interactions
• Rotate among school sites, likely supporting 1-2 students at a time on a dynamic caseload
• Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and impartiality at all times
• Participate in IEP meetings or other team discussions as appropriate
