This executive leadership role oversees field operations, production, safety, equipment, personnel, material procurement, budgeting, and division profitability. Preference will be given to candidates who currently reside in Washington, DC, Maryland, or Northern Virginia, as this position requires regular travel to project sites throughout the region. What You'll Do Lead multiple asphalt paving and milling crews through Superintendents and Foremen on concurrent Heavy Highway construction projects. Oversee all phases of asphalt paving operations, including milling, asphalt laydown, compaction, smoothness, density, quality control, and compliance with DDOT, VDOT, and MDSHA specifications. Manage production schedules, asphalt plant coordination, trucking logistics, material deliveries, and equipment utilization to maximize productivity. Direct division financial performance, including labor planning, job costing, forecasting, budgets, and P&L management. Oversee asphalt paving equipment, including pavers, milling machines, rollers, and material transfer vehicles (MTVs), while supporting efficient operations and cost control. Champion a strong safety culture by ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations, company policies, and transportation agency requirements. Recruit, mentor, and develop Superintendents, Foremen, and field personnel while partnering with executive leadership, estimating, and project management teams to achieve operational excellence. Support work schedules that may include night paving, early mornings, weekends, and emergency response operations. What You'll Bring Minimum of 10 years of experience in asphalt paving and milling operations. Minimum of 5 years managing multiple paving crews, Superintendents, and Foremen on large-scale Heavy Highway construction projects. Extensive knowledge of asphalt paving equipment, including Vogele, BOMAG, CAT pavers, milling machines, steel drum rollers, and rubber tire rollers. Working knowledge of DDOT, VDOT, and MDSHA paving specifications, inspection standards, and quality requirements. Proven success managing division budgets, production schedules, labor planning, equipment resources, and operational profitability. Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word. Valid driver's license required and the ability to pass a background check and pre-employment drug and alcohol screening. Work Environment This position requires regular travel to construction projects, asphalt plants, and office locations throughout Washington, DC, Maryland, and Northern Virginia. Work is performed in both office and active construction environments with exposure to heavy equipment, loud noise, dust, asphalt materials, and changing weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, and rain.
