Volunteer Short-Form Video Editor

Help Turn Christian Teaching Into Engaging Short-Form Videos Social Media Ministries is looking for a creative and detail-oriented volunteer with experience creating short-form video content for platforms such as YouTube Shorts, TikTok, Instagram Reels, and Facebook. We produce weekly sermons and are looking for someone who understands what makes a strong short-form video—not necessarily someone with a background in theology or ministry. You do not need to understand every biblical point in the sermon. Your primary responsibility is to recognize and create engaging, polished short-form videos that capture attention and communicate a complete thought. What You’ll Do For each sermon, our AI video-editing platform, OpusClip, generates approximately 20–25 potential short clips. You will review these clips and identify the strongest material, editing and refining them into approximately 15–18 high-quality shorts per sermon . The finished shorts will generally be 60–90 seconds long and will be published on the SMM YouTube channel and distributed to additional social media platforms. Your responsibilities may include: Reviewing AI-generated clips and selecting the strongest segments Editing clips for pacing, flow, and viewer retention Making sure each video has a compelling hook, engaging body, and satisfying payoff Removing unnecessary pauses, repetition, awkward transitions, or portions that don't contribute to the message Making sure each short communicates a complete thought and doesn't feel abruptly cut off Ensuring captions, framing, and other visual elements are clean and easy to follow Creating shorts that can stand on their own without requiring viewers to watch the entire sermon Maintaining consistency in the overall style and quality of the channel We are looking for someone who understands the fundamentals of short-form content. A strong short should generally: HOOK: Capture the viewer's attention immediately. BODY: Deliver a clear, interesting, and focused thought that keeps the viewer watching. PAYOFF: End with a meaningful conclusion, insight, statement, or takeaway. FLOW: Feel natural from beginning to end, without unnecessary material. RETENTION: Avoid slow openings, excessive pauses, repetition, or sections that cause viewers to lose interest. COMPLETENESS: Make sense as a standalone video rather than feeling like a random excerpt from a longer sermon. You don't have to be a professional video editor. What matters most is that you have a good understanding of short-form video, storytelling, pacing, audience retention, and what makes people want to keep watching. What You Don't Need You do not need to be a pastor, theologian, Bible scholar, or experienced Christian ministry professional. You don't need to understand every theological concept in the sermons. The sermons and source material are already provided, and OpusClip does the initial clip generation. We are primarily looking for someone who can recognize good short-form content and polish it into a finished product. An interest in Christianity and respect for the ministry's mission is important, but extensive biblical knowledge is not required. Ideal Volunteer This opportunity may be a great fit for someone who: Has experience creating YouTube Shorts, TikToks, Instagram Reels, or similar content Understands the importance of the first few seconds of a video Has an eye for pacing and storytelling Can recognize when a clip is engaging versus when it feels slow or incomplete Has experience with video editing software or AI video tools Is detail-oriented and consistent Can work independently and make good editorial decisions Wants to use their creative skills to help spread encouraging and biblical content online Time Commitment The workload is designed to be manageable and flexible. Each sermon currently requires approximately one hour of review and editing after the initial AI-generated clips are created. We publish approximately 15–18 finished shorts per sermon , with two shorts scheduled for publication each day. We are open to discussing a schedule that works for the volunteer. Someone interested in helping with one sermon at a time or taking on a regular weekly role may be a good fit. Why This Matters Short-form video provides an opportunity to bring biblical teaching to people who may never sit down and watch an entire sermon. Your work could help transform a single sermon into dozens of opportunities for someone scrolling through their phone to encounter an encouraging thought, a biblical principle, or a message about Jesus. If you understand short-form video and want to use your creative skills to help Christian teaching reach a larger digital audience, we'd love to hear from you. SOCIAL MEDIA MINISTRIES
