Groundskeeper

Once a part of Kenrick-Glennon Seminary's campus, the Cardinal Rigali Center in Shrewsbury, MO is today the headquarters and curia (governing body) for the Archdiocese of St. Louis. Job Summary The Groundskeeper is responsible for maintaining the church’s outdoor areas to ensure a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for members, visitors, and community events. This role supports the overall mission of the church by caring for the physical appearance of the property. Job Responsibilities Maintain lawns, gardens, trees, and landscaping (mowing, trimming, edging, watering) Plant and care for flowers, shrubs, and seasonal plants Remove weeds, leaves, debris, and trash from all outdoor areas Maintain walkways, parking lots, and entrances (sweeping, pressure washing, minor repairs) Assist with snow and ice removal during winter months Operate and maintain groundskeeping equipment (mowers, trimmers, blowers, etc.) Monitor irrigation systems and report issues Help set up and tear down for outdoor church events or services Ensure grounds are safe and hazard-free (e.g., fallen branches, uneven surfaces) Report maintenance needs or safety concerns to church leadership Job Requirements Prior experience in landscaping or grounds maintenance preferred Ability to operate basic landscaping equipment Physical ability to lift, bend, walk, and work outdoors in various weather conditions Basic knowledge of plants, lawn care, and seasonal maintenance Dependable, self-motivated, and detail-oriented The Archdiocese of St. Louis is an Equal Opportunity Employer and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any kind.
