Assistant Principal (SY26/27) – Haven Middle School (JobID: 5411) Position Type: Administrative / Assistant Principal Date Posted: 5/26/2026 Location: Haven Middle School Date Available: 06/01/2026 District 65 is looking for an instructional leader with a passion for being in an elementary school setting to become the assistant principalof Foster Elementary School. We are also looking for a candidate who will bring stability to a community that has experienced recent leadership changes. Foster is an elementary school serving students K-5. Foster's new leader must be able to establish and promote high expectations for all learners, as well as collaborate with a variety of stakeholders to explore, understand and celebrate the diversity that makes Foster such a special school community. Reporting to the Principal, the Assistant Principal assists with creating a safe learning environment and sets performance goals both for students and teachers and assists with putting systems in place to ensure those goals are attained. As the co-instructional leader of the school, the Assistant Principal is responsible for supporting an ambitious school-wide vision and goals that are aligned to the district's mission and strategic goals. Additionally, this role is responsible for working alongside the principal to direct site operations, enforce policies and regulatory requirements, provide information and serve as a resource to others within the school and the broader community. Duties and Responsibilities Supports the Principal in setting ambitious school wide vision and goals, aligned to the District's mission and strategic goals, that prepare students for success in high school and post-secondary. Serves as an instructional leader and assists in ensuring the implementation of sustainable systems and structures for the purpose of guiding instruction and support for students and building a positive school culture and climate for everyone in the school community. Supports a robust family and community engagement system and structure in the school community. Evaluates and other licensed staff in accordance with the District 65 teacher evaluation model for the purpose of improving instruction. Supervises school personnel for the purpose of monitoring performance, providing for professional growth and achieving overall objectives of the school's curriculum. Facilitates communication between personnel, students and/or parents for the purpose of supporting students and improving school programs. Supports the Principal in monitoring fidelity of curriculum implementation to ensure high quality, rigorous instruction for all students. Maintains high standards of student conduct and enforces discipline as necessary for the purpose of providing a safe and optimal learning environment in recognition that students who do not feel safe cannot learn. Supports the management of school administrative functions (e.g. facility maintenance, budget, staffing, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining safe and efficient school operations within district guidelines. Prepares a wide variety of materials (e.g. licensed and non-licensed staff evaluations, student activities, correspondence, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference, and/or conveying information. Represents the administrative team in the school and within community forums for the purpose of maintaining ongoing community support for educational goals and/or assisting with issues related to school environment. Reviews instructional practices in each classroom on a regular basis for the purpose of improving teaching and learning. Coordinates special education program components for the purpose of delivering services in alignment with established policies and guidelines for IEP/504 compliance. Manages building based evaluation and IEP teams and serves as the Director's designee at most Child Review and IEP meetings. Manages and coordinates school-based programs and special projects as directed by the Principal. Uses data for the purpose of guiding decision-making. Is present and engaged in all district and community meetings related to their school. Communicates important updates to community stakeholders including students, staff, parents, and community partners. Prioritizes efforts to include key stakeholders representative of the school community in school decisions (Parents from multiple racial/ethnic/linguistic groups). Encourages a school-wide practice of cultural equity. Performs any other duties as assigned. Qualifications Five (5) years of teaching experience and two (2) years of school level administrator experience, at the assigned level of school is preferred. Mastersdegree in Education or job-related area Illinois Professional Educator License with General Administrative and/or Principalendorsement Teacher evaluator modules completed Principal Evaluation Training for Teacher/Educators Evaluators Principal Evaluation Training for Principal Evaluators Terms of Employment Twelve-month year (July 1 to June 30) Salary and Benefits Salary commensurate with experience.
