Santa Monica Moderate/Severe Special Education teacher needed

Job Description

Make a meaningful impact during the 2026–2027 school year in a specialized special education classroom serving students with moderate to severe/extensive support needs. This full-time contract opportunity offers placement in either an elementary classroom with strong paraprofessional support or a high school classroom serving medically fragile students.

Position Details

Location: Santa Monica, CA
School Year: August 17, 2026 – June 9, 2027
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 3:30 PM
Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Caseload Options

Elementary Classroom: Approximately 10 students with multiple instructional assistants/paraprofessionals providing classroom support.
High School Classroom: Serving medically fragile students in a specialized educational setting.

Qualifications

Active California Education Specialist Credential in Moderate/Severe or Extensive Support Needs (ESN)required.
Experience working with students with moderate to severe disabilities or medically fragile populations preferred.
Knowledge of IEP development, behavior support strategies, and differentiated instruction.
Strong collaboration and communication skills.

Responsibilities

Deliver individualized instruction aligned with students' IEP goals.
Develop lesson plans, accommodations, and modifications to support student success.
Monitor student progress and maintain accurate special education documentation.
Collaborate with related service providers, paraprofessionals, and families.
Foster a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment.
Participate in IEP meetings and multidisciplinary team collaboration.
